In the US, because "porn" takes place in front of a camera or an audience, it is somewhat protected as free expression under the First Amendment. (Personally, I think that all forms of sex work should be legal between consenting adults in private, whether or not a camera is present.)

If we did legalize prostitution how do you protect against child prostitution and what about all the nasty diseases some ''stars'' might get.

Well, it's illegal now. It'd still be illegal.

And even tho it's illegal now, it still happens. Legalizing prostitution wouldn't make it worse because it'd be regulated.

Course it may not make it better, either.

There would be fewer meth and crack *****s having unprotected sex. It would impede transmission of disease in the sex trades. If it were legal and regulated, there'd be plenty of oft-checked, tax-paying hookers and call girls. Less demand for the meth *****. Less disease. Not perfect, but it would improve it.

Of course, it's stupid that it's not legal to charge for the use of your own body when you can have just as many partners for free. As me wife says "Why begrudge a woman with a high enough opinion of herself to charge?"

i think as long as people who are having that much sex with different partners get tested regularly for diseases, it should be legal.

Hay, I'm a firm believer that the oldest occupation should be legalized.
If it was legal then it would receive the benefits that the porn
industry gets. The most important being medical coverage and safety.
The only problem we have with prostitution is that it's not being handled
in a safe and respectable manner to the women. But man do we love our porn.

btw, can anyone tell me if prostitution is legal in Nevada?

Aside from the spelling, porn is subject to piracy, while prostitution can cater pirates. :ggrin:
