When Ross composed himself, and was riding to the hotel to drop off his bags, and then head to the office, his blood went cold.
While Ross was flying to OKC that morning, Harton had convinced his lawyer that there were enough damages , to move for an emergency hearing.
The hearing would be before the end of the week.
When Ross dropped his bags in the hotel, he texted Tom on Tom's cell phone.
"This sounds serious. Should I leave and come home tomorrow?" Ross said.
"I am here to take care of this. Go about your life. I know that you are in OKC. Do what you have to, and come home when you were planning. We will talk throughout the week, and next Monday when you get home" Tom texted back.
Ross took an Uber to the office, and when Ross went upstairs to greet Fritz, Fritz could see something was wrong.
"Problem?" Fritz asked.
"Harton is claiming damages are such that he was able to get a court to agree to hold an emergency hearing. I asked Tom if I should come home, but he told me to proceed forth with my trip. I'm not going to tell Kayley until I get home,. because I dont want her getting all upset when I'm not home. Let's just do our shows, and go forth normally." Ross said.
The men drove out to the field.. Two hundred fifty investors were there, with one hundred signups. They went back into town, went into the office for a bit. Ross's head started to hurt. He went back to the hotel, fell asleep, and the phone rang.
"This is your partner. Don't I rate a hello or a goodnight?" Kayley said, not amused.
"Sorry, Kale. I had a very bad headache after dinner, came back, and just passed out. Hope your day was good" Ross said, innocently.
"I'm better now that I heard your voice. Okay, go back to sleep, have a good night. Love You" Kayley said.
"Love you too" Ross said.
The next day, three hundred people showed up. About one twenty five signed.
One very bad thing happened that day.
Another company, besides the one that Ross and John had scored in Canada a bit earlier, this one in OKC for the OKC wells, was drying up. Fritz , Steve, and Ross thought they had a "Done deal " for a replacement that fell through. Thus, there were some wells that were not producing, that the men might have to cap, until they could find a viable source with product.
In spite of the "Not too bad" shows of the last two days, the men went to dinner in a very sour mood.
"Not good. It wont break us, but it will perhaps greatly slow down the full speed ahead mentally we have. I'm going to cancel tomorrow;'s show. Get out of here in the morning, and go to LV. Even though we had two shows that were not bad, this development, plus the situation with Harton and Tom, almost put a sour spin on it. Depending on how things go, you can always come back" Fritz said.
"Thanks, buddy. See you in a few weeks" Ross said, bumping fist.
Ross went back to the hotel in a bad mood. He called The Teacher
"A potentially big deal that we really needed to replenish product just crashed. We are going to have to close or cap some wells. We were pissed off, and canceled tpmorrow's show. I'm going to Vegas in the morning" Ross said.,
"Sorry. Just go to LV in the morning, spend three or four days, and take your mind off it" Kayley said supportively.
Ross tried to sleep, but had a headache. The two days with the oil shows had caused him to put the Harton lawsuit out of his mind. Having to cut the trip short because the replacement company they wanted in OKC fell through, that would cause them to have to cap wells, while not a "crippling blow " was a very big setback.
Ross probably should have gone home after that news. Ross would have gone home, but he knew if he did that he would not just sit home and rest. Inevitably, he would be in the office the next day, which would cause him to fixate on Harton 24-7 even though Tom told Ross that Tom would handle it, and that Ross should go about his life.
Ross got up early, made an 8 am fight to LV. The three hour flight landed at 9 am LV time. Ross was at the hotel, checked in, and in his room by 10.
Ross tossed off his clothes down to his boxers, and intended to leave a wake up call for 1 pm, and just rest or sleep before lunch.
Ross's plans to do that might change when he saw his phone flashing again.
That seemed to never be good news, or was it?
That would be seen.
