Hey guys, I know we had another one of these a while ago but I couldn't find it, so I'm starting a new one. Thread where we ask for prayers, healing thoughts, well-wishes, comfort, etc.

Personally I'd like to mention my family right now...my grandmother (not the one I live with) has been sick with cancer for a while now but two days ago they went to the doctor, and the chemo's not working. She's elderly, and has been in a lot of pain, and the cancer was still spreading even through the chemo, so they decided to take her off it.

I'm going down the 20th with Senshi and my eldest sister (the other sibs are half-sibs, not related to her), and I pray and hope that we're in time to see her one last time, and that she's well enough that day so that we CAN. Please keep me, my sister, and my aunt and father in your thoughts and prayers for the next little while--but especially my grandfather. They're soulmates, I can just tell, they remind me and Senshi and I so friggin much. Honestly I'm scared for him too--he's a fighter, but she's been his life for...a very long time.

Sorry to ramble on, but there ya go. Of course this thread isn't just about me, so if anyone else needs thoughts and prayers, here's a place to put it 🙂

Praying for you and your family Karen and Senshi, here's to a brighter 2013 hunny, big hugs and lots of love to you both.
Bug xoxo

My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family as well. I know how much it sucks to lose a grandparent. Best of luck to you and may the good lord comfort you and your loved ones as you go through these tough times.

I pray for her and her spirit and for you and Senshi as well. Does she live in Oregon? If so, has she decided to have a "death with dignity" due to being in so much pain? If really wish more states would let people do that than just Oregon.

She's in Alabama-she's just gonna hang out with grandad and his family (whom she's lived near for years). You guys are great, thank you all so much! :') this really meant a lot to me. I promise I'll keep y'all updated

You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers ma'am. 🙂 Just know that if she does goes, she's going to a better place.

Meh, I ain't mad...a little smirk over this issue might do me good 😛

Ouch. I'm sorry to hear Karen. I hope this dark chapter passes by quick. Hugs and well wishes.

Hey
I have not been around in a while but this thread caught my eye.
Sorry to hear about your grandma....how is she doing?

My aunty got throat cancer back in 1999 and beat it- she became known as the scarf lady with the sexy voice.lol. She did so much to help others who had gone through the same procedure. She has been a true inspiration to me. Then back in July (2012) she was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer (long story due to hospital failing to spot it earlier) and was told that she had months to live. Massive shock to all of us but my aunty being who she was took it all in her stride and battled it head on. she had chemo but like your grandma it wasnt working and was making her ill so she came off it. then the next treatment they tried was radiotherapy. By October she started to decline- she was going through more aches and pain as a result of the cancer spreading and in and out of hospital on a fairly regular basis. She then got cancer in her thumb and she had to have the tip of it chopped off to remove the cancer- the op was a success but my aunty being my aunty saw the funny side of it. The docs told her that the end of it looked like a pigs snout so she decided to nickname it Babe. I said I'd get her some googly eyes so she could dress it up a bit when she was talking about drawing a nose on her plaster and she loved the idea. On Sunday 6th Jan her family was told that she would not live past the day. But stubborn as she was she was fighting to the end. As she was still fighting we went to see her in hospital one last time on the 7th. But she continued to fight until she finally drifted off peacefully on 9th January. We all of course were heartbroken. She died the day before my birthday- so i spent my birthday grieving. Was such a bizarre day. But sure the main thing was that she wasnt suffering anymore- that was the most painful thing/ hardest to take. We had the funeral late (she'd planned it all out and her family were following her instructions which held up the arrangements slightly) and we had it on the 23rd Jan. It was that day I did the hardest yet best thing in my life. I spoke in church at her funeral. My aunty meant the world to me coz she was such an amazing woman that helped so many people along her own journey. So it was important to me to do something on her special day.

So I can completely relate to what you are going through Karen. My thoughts are with you all and I hope that they find a treatment that works. They caught my aunty's second cancer late so they didnt have a hope for treatment really. But that is not always the case.
Hope she is getting on ok.
xx

Shit. Cancer is a horrific thing isn't it. I hope one day we beat it without any terrible repercussions (like unleashing a virus or something like that). Maybe organic-based nanite injections could cure it?
