Preview of New Set; Opinions Wanted

Greetings one and all. This is a quick preview of a new set I'm working on. I'm planning on a long series of action from this room, and possibly wrapping it around a story.

Included are two versions of this image. The first is the raw render. The second is a new post-render technique I've been toying with to offer a more comic-inspired look.

Please let me know what you think of the second image. I'm not completely sure which aesthetic direction I'm going to go with on this one.

Also, keep in mind this a very rough image, not nearly completed. There's more to do in the room itself with structure and I'm not completely finished with the characters. Hell, knowing me, even the device itself may not be entirely finished yet...

To my eyes,the second pic looks a bit too lightened up Like all of the lights in the room are on

Yeah, it's one of the things I'm trying to tool with. I'm trying to see if I can change how the lights reflect on the skin, so when the post-render technique is used, the skin doesn't "glare" so much. I like the general idea, but it does need some tweaking.

Oh yes You could eat some cat,and do some tickling at the same time with a setup like that

I agree that the second one is a little too dark, but I prefer it over th first one. Please don't be offended but the first one looks sort of like graphics in an online role playing game.

Pic 2 is brighter. Better.

Okay. The design is fabulous and so far sadistic. The split thing...haha...your mind runs east to west. Contrasts do well for the theme. Nice 3d art/rendering.

A while ago i commented on this one but my internet connection was still shoddy so i guess it didn't go through.

I think one thing to remember is how the gag looks like in a woman's mouth, for a ball gag i would think that it would be more expressive to have her teeth showing a bit by lifting up the lip depressors.

Thanks for the input guys. As far as the details...the way the gag looks et al...I was just posting a rough copy to shot the difference in the post-render process. The set itself is far from finished. And the first one does lok like a video-game graphic, but that's a raw render, no post-work. I never release any raw renders as final product.

I appreciate the input, seriously. I'm always trying to push things into new directions, represent the various little twitches and surges that course through my brain.

Which, yes...does seem to often run east to west.

this may sound counter productive and even a bit silly, but even when i'm positioning my little mannequin here http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=1202R

I find it helps a gazillion to call one of my friends over and mimic the position for me so it looks as natural as it can, the mannequin then acts as a replacement to take the place of my pal when she's gone home.

Same goes for facial expressions and hands and props, i stand in front of the mirror with my sketch book, and privately make an ass out of myself in front of the mirror making funny faces to further understand them.

I really digg where you're going with this one, the high contrast levels look cool, but i think you should consider the context of the piece as a whole, you know, what effect would look the most appropriate for the situation.

How the hell have I missed this (probably has something to do with the fact that your artwork archive is inexplicably gone)!? Dave, your cruelty knows no bounds. My only two nitpicks are her painted toenails (I hate painted toenails, I can't explain why. Maybe because I just don't like the way girls today need to cover themselves with enough paint to change the color of my kitchen) and the fact that she isn't being tickled mercilessly by that other woman.

Actually I far more prefer the post render effect in the second pic. I like the glare on the skin, it gives the whole a far warmer (= erotic) feel. It makes the picture look more illustrative than just the hard cold render approach. In a way the "glare" reminds me of vintage postcards, perhaps with a very slight photo grain it would even look better...
