2 days ago I was writing in a thread where I was getting... upset. Now... I was sitting in a recliner. My desk is a bit higher than the chair. So it makes for not exactly comfortable writing. ( I have since switched chairs)

But all of sudden I was getting a rising pain in my left side. High up but halfway down between my armpit all the way down to my elbow. It's curved around to my front and back. It burned... and it became harder to breath normally. It really hurt the worse it got. It took an hour for it to stop. The burning never quite went away. My Bf gave me Ibuprofin and brought home a soda thinking maybe I needed to burp lol. Nope. My Bf thinks I just get too stressed out sometimes resulting in my body "acting out"

The next day I seemed fine. Still burned though.

Today about an hour before I began to work out it started up again. But as I haven't been able to workout since last Friday...I was determined. I thought maybe that area needs to be stretched as I normally do. Well I didn't get to finish my workout. What it turned into was me holding my arms together just working out my legs. But because the torso is just so tied to everything... 30 mins in I gave up. As I lay here now...I can't get comfortable.. and it hurts when I lay on that side. (So I'm not laying down doing that again lol) When I massage a little bit of that area it feel like I walked into a sharp corner. Or just a REALLY sore muscle.Any idea of what I possibly could have done? Or.... if this is a pulled muscle... how does one get one just sitting perfectly still? OR is stress really the factor? I mean... this seems crazy... I was upset.. but 2 days later this is still going on?

Dunno, Captured....about 2 weeks ago my wife said she put her head down on her desk at work for a few minutes; when she got back up, suddenly she had pulled something in her back. Took about a week to get rid of the pain; she already had a doctor's appointment scheduled a few days later, and the best she could recommend was do a google search for some exercises, and gave her a prescription to try to help (also suggested, Ibuprofin, but my wife can't take it). It's also happened to me in the past; just somehow a muscle goes wacky, and you're in pain for a week. Just strange. Hope you're feeling better now, though.

No I'm not feelin better yet. But... I feel less alone with this now so thank you for sharing. Such a strange thing. Like I was saying to my Bf... you would think this stuff could be avoided if you work our regularly...but... I guess not. 🙁

As the beaver said - "Dam!" Well, it will get better, obviously slower than you want (and I know the feeling, from way back when). In fact, I've developed a minor pain in my hip....don't know where from, how, etc. Not debilitating, but an irritant, especially at night in bed. Then again, I be an old fogey...... It may take a few more days, but, you'll survive. PLEAS, GAL...SURVIVE.......:veryhappy

Sorry to hear. What you describe and what rdhd says happened to his wife strikes me without warning every now and then too, i.e., with no telltale prior clues from my body that I might be overdoing any of my normally fairly vigorous physical activity. Father Time and Mother Nature's conspiracy to not let me forget who's boss, I guess.

LOL!!! I have to play Donna Summers song now. 🙂

Don't you mean Gloria Gaynor? I picked that up right away because I was a teenager during the dying throes of Discomania when that tune was inescapable and cemented its unfortunate place in the popular culture.

Then again, I had some pretty wicked fantasies about Donna Summer during those long-ago hot summers too as a result of this.

I use Icy Hot patches to relieve the pain. A heating pad also helps.
