Question about profles after this new "system"!!

Hiya! I'm not sure whether i've posted this in the rite place or not, but i hope i get some response!! With this new profile messagin thingy, how do we now actually VIEW some1's profile (i.e. the details of their ticklish spots, gender, location and biography/comments, etc)?!! Please respond! Thx.😕

Have you not got the tabs at the top of the box, to switch between Contact info,Statistics,About me etc?

If you havent and all you see is the Message box then your not the only one and the problem is being looked into. 🙂

I do know that if Javascript is disabled the tabs do not display properly. However, all profile info should be visible by scrolling down, for when Javascript is disabled all the info just gets piled vertically on the page. For those having troubles it would be helpful to know your Internet Browser and any browser toolbars/add-ons you may have.

If you wish, I suggest trying to install the Opera browser and coming to the TMF with it. IF you can view profiles normally that way then you have a browser-specific problem that we need to address.

I seem to be having problems viewing all the info as well. I use internet explorer with a yahoo toolbar.

It sounds like toolbars are the issue. Are you able, by chance, to view profiles in a browser that has no toolbar (the aforementioned Opera, Safari, Firefox, Chrome or any other)? If it turns out a toolbar is the issue I can research it.

Yea I seem to have the same trouble as tcle1. I can get most of the information except the personal stuff ie gender, location, lee or ler. Kinda strange. Thought it was my craptop 😉 😛

Do you know how to disable the Yahoo! toolbar? Barring that, are you willing to uninstall it (at least temporarily)?

Not off hand and I rather not mess around too much on this laptop as it already kinda crashes periodically. 😛 It could be its just too old to take advantage of these things as IE i use is 6.0 and I use windows XP SP1. Is there a way to turn off the new features in the User CP? I really dont need the new stuff to be honest.

you can turn user messages off but it only turns them off on your profile, if you look at someone elses who has it enabled it will still show up and present the same problem, restricting your view of they're profile. As far as i'm aware anyway.

Not that I know of. It's not something in vB that's stopping you; it's something on your end, be it the toolbar or the browser itself. Without being able to remove the toolbar/reset IE or use an alternative browser there's not much I can do. 🙁

I highly recommend downloading something besides IE6 anyway. One I did mention, Opera, is lightweight and very fast. By virtue of being one of the least-used it is also highly secure. 😀 It is unlikely to screw up the machine anymore than using the insecure IE6 already is. 😀

I might try the Opera thing. 😀 I think I downloaded a copy of it as a precaution. I will just check to see if there is a later version. Thanks for your time. 😀

It would appear to be an IE problem; viewing the pages in my non-toolbar copy of IE7 shows no tabs. I will investigate this.

I am currently using the beta version of Internet Explorer 8. I am also experiencing the problem of not having the tabs show up when i access a profile. I am not using any toolbars besides the default navigation bar in IE.

Tabs were not working for me before. They are working fine now.

This issue should be corrected as of now; please alert myself if you continue to have issues. You may (although should not) need to clear your browser cache to see the changes. A good refresh (F5) may also be in order.

Thanks every1 for replyin- and so soon too 😱 lol!! Im not sure if it was just a glitch with it first bein in operation when i went on, but when i went on 2day it worked fine! So my prob seems to b solved. But it seems like others r havin trouble with this too, so i'll still keep the thread on! Thx again
