My question is: Have any of you met anyone from the forum? Did you meet for drinks/dinner a couple of times to see if you were compatable? Skype first? Any suggestions for me? I am a little nervous about this.

I'm going out on a limb here. I've been a member here for many years, and lurked here for a while before I signed up. In all of this time I have not actively tried to meet up with anyone, nor have I attended any gatherings.
Since we don't have many gatherings in this part of the world for us to meet and get to know one another, I guess I am going this route.

Yes I have met and played with people off of FetLife and the Forum. What I normally do is I talk to them some for a few weeks. I try to get to know them and I try to get a read on them. I can sometimes tell just by internet chatting alone if we should try to pursue more. If we keep talking and I feel it is someone I want to play with then the searching for a hotel happens and the deciding on the location to meet. I always like meeting in a hotel the first time. That way if something bad were to happen they would have the information of the person I played with. Orbitz is great for hotels. Now I always think just diving into play feels awkward, so I always like to meet somewhere in public first to hang out before we go to the hotel. Like a restaurant or a coffee shop. I met someone on OKcupid.com. Started when she was recommended to me by the site. She liked video games and that was an "Ice Breaker" We started talking. I asked if she was ticklish.
