Question regarding splitting files?

Ok the argument is that we can't post large files here but is a 45 second clip considered a large file? I think if you have a 2 minute clip it's fine to split it but anything under a minute is a hassle to have to save 9 files and convert them by WinRar or Hatcha. It takes longer to download and convert the clip than to view the clip. This is my opinion. Can there be some kind of unity here?

I agree...it's sort of a pain to go through all of that for a 10 second clip. Especially for people with 56k connections. It would be very helpful if people would always post the LENGTH and FILE TYPE of anything that they archive before posting.

Ok then, but there are some 2 minutes files that do not need to be splitted ( mostly wmv files ). The same file in mpg will be bigger, but more clear to view so splitting. I agree that the best there should be is files above 7 minutes and posted in one time with no program and so on.........yeah easy to say 🙂. But until the posting file in one time will be 2mb size, clips must be splitted in some cases of course.
By the way TT says that there should be problems of uploading when posting above 2mb......i tried it's true :sigh: 😀
So question then : shall we post clips to be viewed or not if they have to be splitted ????? Ask yourself 😀

There's a lot more to file size than simply the length. You've got picture size, resolution and compression that all factor into the size of a clip, along with the length. That's why we go by the file size, not the length of the presentation. 2MB is the limit. That might amount to a 3 min clip or a 30 second clip, depending on the other factors I mentioned.

... Besides bandwidth is paid by meg, not by content. 🙂
