I bought the WoW Battle Chest recently. Inside of it is what looks like the regular Wow and Wow Burning Crusade.

Questions: Is there a difference between the two games?

Which is more enjoyable to play?

Is this the original Wow?:

If so, that's one of the two I have. Which should I start with?

Thanks to all in advance. 🙂

Ok. What you have Crystal is WoW and the first expansion of WoW, the Burning Crusade. The Second expansion is called The Lich King.

That picture you have is the original WoW and the burning crusade is just a continuation of WoW. Once you instal them both, you can play up to level 70… you would need to buy The Lich King to continue on to level 80.

Also, WoW is coming out with a new expansion sometime in November that continues the game to level 85

I hope this answers your questions. If you have more, feel free to PM me with more questions

That's about all you need to know right there. It's all just the one game, and Burning Crusade adds content that you'll have to go through later, so there's no need to choose which to play or anything, 'cause it's all gonna happen.

Also, there's no actual confirmation that the next expansion will for sure make it out this year, but since the other two expansions and the original game were released in November, it's just assumed. It could be delayed, but they just scrapped a couple things that probably would've taken a good bit of time to be completed, so it should make it out this year.

I don't think Blizz wants to miss out on the Christmas money anyway.

Just to clarify a bit for you:

-you will need to install the original game first (the one that has the pic you posted) before you can install the expansions.

-you can play the original game without installing any expansions at all if you wish, you just wont be able to access content exclusive to the expansions.

-aside from adding content for future lvls, Burning Crusade also allows you to play the blood elf race on the horde side, and the dranei race on the alliance side. It also introduces a few more things that can be accessed at low lvl, such as the jewelcrafting profession.

Hope you have fun!

Thing is though, if you want to play the game and do all the raiding content, you'll probably have more luck with installing the last expansion as well. I don't know about US servers but there aren't a lot of classic or BC raids going on with players who are the appropriate level for them.
Don't play Alliance, just don't.

YES, I AM A NERD, RAWR!
(oh, and play a priest, DO IT! Or a hunter, but they're making gay changes to them in the next explansion)

Gay as in awesome.

Are you having a laugh? I'm actually gonna have to learn a proper ROTATION :<

Haha. I used to play Hunter all the time - for the first couple years, it's all I liked, then I got away from them. The only thing I can really remember about the changes coming up is that they're giving them Focus instead of mana, which I like a lot... although I guess it's pretty much just energy like rogues have with a slight tweak.

It's kind of the same, the regen is not gonna be as fast as for a rogue and how much you're getting back is depending on how much haste you have. I mean.. using Focus to do stuff like Disengaging is just taking the piss ><

Priests and Lifegrips ftw.

(just realized how nerdy I sound, this is amazing.)

Congratulation on your first venture into the twenty-first century. Just kidding.

World of Warcraft = Original game base
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade = Expansion (an add-on with content that comes after you've completed the original content).
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the lich King = 2nd Expansion
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm = 3rd Expansion
World of Warcraft: <Input title here> The search for more money

The difference? Nothing.

When you hit max level at the time you'll be forced with a very difficult decision.

3. Lack of End Game Content - Blizzard should have learned that an MMORPG isn't played for a day or a year instead spanning as long as one can imagine. There are currently only 4 things to do once you hit the maximum level cap of 70: Raid (a dungeon requiring more than 5 people to complete), PvP (fight other players in battlegrounds or arena), Farming (Continuously kill the same thing over and over again in order to gain wealth), or Heroics (a mode setting that makes a regular dungeon even harder).

I copied that straight out of a negative review I wrote when Burning Crusade was the latest expansion out and these words still remain true today as well as when cataclysm comes out. Save your $15 a month.

It's all one game. Install every disc you see. Wait for the patch to download. Make an account at the website. Play.

Of course you got this almost a month ago so you've probably figured all that out already. Every so often I'll play for a month or so but I haven't in a while especially after my account got hacked 6 months ago. That happens a lot by the way.

I play as well!

I'm a paladin. The game is totally addictive, but much more fun when you play with a group of friends. Enjoy if you load them up. 😀
