questions for the Star Wars fans....

hey fellas, i was visiting the StarWars site and reading their messageboards. there are some real "mentally challenged" people on that site. so, i thought i would ask my fellow fans on this site what they think...

1) on the Star Wars site, there are those who claims Darth Sidious and Emperor/Senator Palpatine are two DIFFERENT people. what do you think? me? they are the SAME.

2) there is a long thread about Sypho-Dias, the guy whose name was used to order the clones in Episode 2. some people say he was a dark lord, some say it was the name of Palpatine when he was on the Jedi Council (yes, they say this). my theory? he was the name of some dead Jedi, and they (Palpatine or Dooku) used it to order clones. what are your thoughts?

if any of you have a chance, check out the site. there are some real funny people out there.......

yea, there are a lot of disturbed puppies out there. I think Star Wars gets a lot of spillover from the Trekkies.

1) this one is wrong. Especially after Attack of the Clones. if you don't see it, you're thick.

2) Sypho-dias could be anyone. Could be a made up name. It's fun to speculate. But if you take the "real" history of the Sith into account I don't think Sidious was ever a Jedi, or on the council. He could have just mangled his own name as an alias, like Smob Bith or something.

One think I do wish, though, is that Dooku's name had been pronounced more in line with the Japanese Romanji pronunciation of a double o. That is, long instead of extended. (Doh-ku versus Doo-ku). How such a cool villain drew such a silly name, I'll never understand. It's like they really wanted to call him Count Dookie but the Gungan-haters staged a protest.😀

1. The attempt to make Palpatine and Darth Sidious appear to be two separate people is quite possibly the least convincing deception in the entire Star Wars canon. They've got the same frelling action figure, for the love of Claudia Black! If anyone is fooled, they must be among the focus groups with bantha poodoo for brains that thought Greedo shooting first was a good idea, or that Jar Jar and the Ewoks needed more screen time.

2. Another ludicrous delusion. Obi-Wan's reaction to hearing the name indicates that ordering an army of clones is not the sort of behavior he expected from Syfo-Dyas, so his being a Dark Lord is a bit unlikely. Further, this also implies that Obi-Wan knew him, at least well enough to know he was dead, so it means he isn't an imaginary alias used by Palpatine. We know from Tim Zahn's Thrawn trilogy that Palpatine secretly murdered several Jedi in the Outbound Flight Project (some might speculate that this was done to prevent discovery of his allies among the Ssi-Ruuk, the Nagai, the Chiss, or other powers in the Unknown Regions, but I shall not get into such theories here), and cloned one of their number, Jorus (Joruus) C'Baoth, as his minion. It is then within the realm of possibilty that Palpatine may have secretly murdered Syfo-Dyas, simply to obtain his credentials to present to the Kaminoans. (It is unlikely that Dyas was part of Outbound Flight, as its disappearance does not precede the first order for clones.)

I too cringed at the stupidity of Count Dooku's name. I offer the more palatable alternative pronounciation Duh-KOO, accenting the second syllable. This has a French Aristocractic sound to it, in keeping with his more European fencing style.

Sadly, demented theories by the fans seem to be inseparable from Science Fiction. I recall being at a Convention some years ago while a drooling madman tried to convince me that Davros, creator of the Daleks in Doctor Who, was secretly the renegade Time Lord called the Master in his final regeneration.

I'm not even justifying #1 with a response...puh-LEEZE!

As far as #2 goes, either Count Dooku (Tyrannus) ordered the clones in the name of Syfo-Dyas, or he was Syfo-Dyus...we just don't know that it was the former name of Dooku as the Jedi knew him. Not likely, but possible.

Jango Fett claims to have been approached to be the clone host by "a man named Tyrannus", so we know that Doku played at least some part in this.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! i KNEW my fellow ticklephiles had BRAINS!!!!! i was beginning to wonder about people. i really think us "ticklephiles" are the smartest people on this planet. anyway, i was getting so frustrated by what i was reading on those boards. Sidious and Palpatine TWO DIFFERENT people? you guys should read it, i mean, these people arguing this are serious. i'm glad you guys agree.

as for the second one, at first i was thinking "why are we even bothering with this question?" Sypho-Dias was just a name. on those boards, there are over 183 PAGES of threads dedicated to this. amazing!!!!!!! for a guy who had no role, he had that much debate for him? for crying out loud, Obi-wan and the others knew who he was, but people say it was Darth Maul, Palpatine or Dooku? there are some THICK HEADED PEOPLE out there.

as for Count Dooku, i thought i was pronounced "doo-koo". it is an odd name. oh yeah, also on that board, there is a big mystery about who erased Kamino (sp?) from the archives. only a Jedi can ersae it. i figured it was Dooku. after all, he WAS a Jedi, and he did hire Jango to be his clone host. put 2 and 2 together.......

another thing they were talking about was who was Yoda talking about when during ESB, he said "This one i have watched for a long time..." remember that? now hold still, put down sharp objects, and try not to bang your head on the computer. some people INSIST Yoda was talking ABOUT Ben.......sorry, i'm banging my head on the desk now. Obi-Wan? you guys should read some of the nonsense. they bash George Lucas (go figure), and bash TPM to DEATH. it is wild over there. i'm glad this forum is a "happy" place.....

Remember the debates during the spaces between the original trilogy? Oh man, did we have some...

The most interesting was the speculation surrounding the point in ESB when Obi-Wan tells Yoda "That boy was our last hope" and Yoda replies "No, there is another..."

Everybody from Han Solo to Wedge Antilles to some unknown character was taken into account, and not once did any one think of Leia. It just goes to show how Leia was truly the first real female action hero. She didn't trip and fall when chased, she shot back and had a shitload of guys working for her.

Oh, and the gold bikini was nice, too. 🙄

I couldn't possibly see how Sidious and Palpatine could be seperate characters. It would be very strange casting if they were two different people, since it's the same actor as the original trilogy. That makes about as much sense as saying that Han Solo was Jabba's long lost brother.

Hi Primetime. Is the site you were on called the JEdi Academy? If so you might notice a certain similarity between the typing styles of myself and a certain individual by the name of Sle-Ja Kavsali. Ahem........ Anyway, yes there are quite a few mongers on that site.I'm in the middle of a blazing row right now with one of them who was saying that he thinks practicing homosexuality is a sin, because Leviticus say so. The site was created because a lot of people enjoy discussing spirituality and the Jedi concept was a good medium for doing it. However there seem to be too many people who are on a power trip there for my liking.

And by the way, the fact that the Emperor in ROTJ and Palpatine in TPM and AOTC are both played by Ian McDiarmid might just be a slight clue as to Sidious' real identity. Duuuhhhhhhhhh............LOL

hey BigJim, the site i went to was Starwars.com i never heard of the other site you mentioned. on the site, there are a bunch of imbeciles, although they do provide good comedy sometime. but the whole Darth Sidious/Palpatine thing is just plain ridiculous.....
