Ross sat at his desk, took a deep sigh, picked his cell phone up, and hit Tim's number.
Tim picked up on the second ring.
"I called, where were you?" Tim asked.
"I was out having a couples sex orgy with Kayley and some other people" Ross said sarcastically.
"Okay, we both know that you're bullshitting. Seriously where were you?" Tim said.
Ross sighed. "Timothy, I was out meeting with a potential new client! Am I allowed to do that, to do some other work, and spend my time working with other people other than Timothy Patrick?" Ross said, almost fit to be tied.
"Yes, of course. So, when can you see me?" Tim asked.
"Let;'s see, I have.. four pm this afternoon, and that will be two hundred fifty bucks for this session of preventing you from having a nervous breakdown" Ross said.
"What the Hell is the matter with you? You've been acting like a complete asshole lately!" Tim snapped.
"If you want to fire me . Timothy, go right ahead! Kayley and I will be just fine without you!" Ross fired back.
Tim sighed. "No, of course I don't want to fire you. I just. need some time to please talk to my best friend and business manager, is that okay?" Tim said, in an appealing tone.
Ross also sighed. "Yes, of course. How about we do an early dinner at Smith and Wollensky, tomorrow, at 6 pm, if you can fit me in, just like old times, okay?" Ross asked.
"Just fine, see you then, looking forward to it" Tim said.
Ross got home around his usual 630 time that night, and kissed Kayley.
"Well, I got a probable huge potential new client today, and I almost got Timothy to fire me. I dared him to, but he did not bite, so I have to meet him tomorrow for dinner" Ross said.
Kayley sighed. "Ross, there is a difference between you being insensitive to him, and him controlling our lives. I think you need to strike a happy medium" Kayley said.
"Teacher is right again, as teacher is always right" Ross said, goosing Kayley's belly as she giggled and pulled away
Ross and Kayley made love that night. Ross worked through the day the next day, and then went for his dinner with Timothy.
As the men did their hand bump, brief hug, and sat, something felt, different.
"Ross, my life is falling apart., First Tiffany left me, and now I dont want to lose my best friend" Tim appealed.
Ross sighed. "You are never going to lose me, as either your best friend or your business manager., It's just, things change , Timothy,. First this oil and gas company exploded like wildfire with Fritz and Steve, and now there seems to be the unknown with Alan Hell. I just need you to understand, that I'm a best friend, and business manager, and I cant be on call 24-7. I have a marriage, a wife, a company,. and other clients and people to deal with" Ross said.
"I know"Tim said.
"Have you heard from Tiffany?" Ross asked.
"Yes, I've heard from her, in the form of "Where is my alimony you Son Of A Bitch? The chances of me getting her back are like the chance of rain on a clear day" Tim said.
Ross sighed. "I'm sorry, Tim. I personally think she is being too harsh, but, we always knew she was a lot more hard assed and not as level headed as Kayley" Ross said.
"I know" Tim said.
Then Tim continued "So what happens now?"
"Well, I am still your business manager, soooo. tomorrow, please get me your work and I will do it as I always do. I'm waiting to hear from Alan Hell about what he wants me to do for him, and within ten days, another OKC trip, what else?" Ross asked.
"Okay, I understand" Tim said quietly.
"Tim, you are my best friend, and always will be. I will always be here for you. I just need you to realize that if I say I;m tired or busy with something, to please understand that. I will support and help you in any way I can" Ross said.
Tim smiled. "Thanks, Ross"
When Ross got home, he told Kayley of the dinner.
"Kale. I think that the mighty Tim Patrick is finally cracking. He told me that Tiffany just got in touch with him to demand her alimony and curse him out. He has lost his wife, and now I think he's afraid he's going to lose me and my work as well" Ross said.
"Is he?" Kayley asked.
Ross sighed. "No, not if I can help it. I told him what I need from him, and I think he understands. I just hope he does what he says"
The next day, things started to move along, as Ross began receiving work, scheduling, and instructions from Alan Hell and his reps.;

"Ross, I thought our meeting went so well yesterday, I went back to my office, and I'm pushing the people who prepare things, to send you even lesser projects while we get together the big stuff. I know that you are going to OKC again" Alan said.
"Not for about ten days, please dont worry about that. Please just send me anything you have. I will look it over, talk to you about it, we will figure out in detail what you want, and then I will begin work on anything you want and authorize me to" Ross said.
"I'm thinking, some form of a new marketing campaign for my firm, even if not major at first. I also want to get in a conference call with your partners Fritz and Steve to discuss what they think about the new strike you guys found, and how all of you would advise me to proceed" Alan said.
"All that requires from me is one phone call to them, and for us to know when you and whoever else you want to hear that discussion are available to talk. We can do that today, tomorrow, or next week, your choice as you are the client" Ross said.
"We will get in a call before the end of the week, definitely. Let me just figure out whether I just want to talk to you guys myself and get info, or if I want my other partners to listen in. I will let you know by tomorrow" Alan said.
"Just fine. However we can help you, Fritz, Steve and I are here" Ross said.
As the week went along, Ross and one of his Vice Presidents worked on Tim's marketing monthly campaign. The people at RossShell were so used to Tim's requests after him being a client for so many years, that they knew just what he wanted,.
Ross knew that whatever Alan Hell wanted, Ross had to do himself, as Ross had just taken on Alan as a client and likely investor, that Ross wanted to assume responsibility for that himself as the CEO of RossShell.
By the end of the week, Alan's marketing campaign, which when Ross saw it, he told Alan was "Mid sized" in his view, and could be done within two to four weeks, was in Ross's hands.
"Okay, this looks like. I might be able to do it in two weeks, and no more than a month, most likely three weeks with showing it to you with changes, is that okay? Ross said.
"Yes, just fine. We will talk and I will discuss in detail with you what I approve of and dont. I think it will be far less complex than you think" Alan said.
The next night, Ross, Fritz, Steve, Alan, and one of Alan's other law partners got on a conference call about the oil and gas.
"We have new gas fields with a lot of product, so there is potentially a great deal of money with many spaces there for you and anyone else you would want involved, Alan" Ross said.
"What would be the average investment per investor?" Alan asked.
"Usually, as a startup, one hundred thousand. The monthly checks would depend on the output and sales of the fields, the price of natural gas and oil, you know" Ross said.
"My guess is that with the sheer number of partners in my firm, I can guarantee that if everyone likes what you guys show them, you will get a startup of one hundred grand each with twenty five initial investors. The amount of investors and money involved could and should skyrocket if all goes as planned" Alan said,.
"Just great, thank you, Alan. We will keep in touch and discuss the details of how to do this" Ross said.
When Ross , Fritz and Steve got off with Alan, they talked themselves.
"I thought that went very well. Hopefully it will move forward" Ross said.
"Yes.. when are you coming down here?" Fritz asked.
"Wednesday to Saturday, just like I promised. I have marketing projects to do for Alan, and ah, Timothy" Ross said.
"Okay, but if you dont come Wednesday, I am personally going to fly up to that city and bring your ass down here" Fritz said jokingly.
When Ross got home, he told Kayley of the conference call with Alan Hell.
"It went well. Alan thinks that it will start with twenty five people, at one hundred grand per, and then build quickly. It looks very good" Ross said.
"Okay, let's hope that it goes well, and that you calmed Tim down so his work with you can just be routine" Kayley said.
"Kale, we know that Tim is hurting. He lost Tiffany, and does not want to lose me. I know that Tim and I can figure this out on all levels" Ross said.
The rest of the week was quiet, with Ross working in the office, and getting together his campaign for Alan Hell, Timothy, while figuring out the investment specifics for the oil and gas with Alan and his partners.
The following Tuesday arrived, and it was off to OKC for another trip to see Fritz, Steve and the wells
Things were moving along. Would there be a surprise, or a bump in a road, or would even more good things happen?
