They do get full. Mails bounce once they do. Clean them out occasionly.

Another question...

As well, M, on the main page of the TMF it claims that I have a total of 40 messages in all my folders. However, when I click on PROFILE, I see that I have no folders (only Inbox), and my PM's total to aboot a dozen.

Why the discrepancy?

It saves your sent ones also. There is a toggle that will let you see the three mailboxes in your personal area. Check each.
