Need some advice...Lately i've been having issues recoding clips to files from some different sites.I go into DailyMotion and recently found using BING is a great tickling finding tool! Anyway when i view the clip i find interesting theres no problem..but if i copy the clip to save it in my file and view it in my file the thumnail sometimes just shoes a green color ..and viewing the clip shows same with a faint shadow of the action. Some show the thumbnail but when i view the clip it barely visible under a very blurring grey shadow. Now i checked the properties of some the clips and they show it being an MPEG-4....What program plays am mpeg-4 file clearly? Realplayer , Quicktime, winamp , windows media player , DIVX player will not play them.Any help will be appreciated! Is it possible to convert the file to an acceptable format for realplayer? If so how can i do that?.....THANKS IN ADVANCE!

btw..its MPG-4....and now i found an mpg-4 that plays clearly...so now what!?..lol

I'm not following how you saved these files from the original sites. How are you saving the clips that you view? Can you give me a step-by-step?

With Youtube clips, there's a site keepvid.com where you can enter the URL of a youtube pages and keepvid will give you links to download the files. It may work for sites other than Youtube but I'm not sure.

There are also some extensions for Firefox that let you do similar things. Just get Firefox if you don't have it, then go to the directory of extensions (at the Firefox website) and use search terms like download clips or download videos to find the extensions. I think I have one called downloadhelper or something like that. They won't necessarily work with every website, though.

FYI: Many video sites (but not all) will leave a copy of the video after watching it in the "temporary" internet files folder. You can open the folder using Tools>Internet Options>Settings (in Browsing History section)>View Files. Move the slider bar over until you see a video file (usually flv or mp4 file). Left-click on it, choose "Copy" from the folder options at left, or right-click and choose "copy"--save it in a folder on your hard drive. You can rename it after saving it in your folder. You may need a special video viewer (like Media Player Classic) to view, and/or software to convert it to another video file format (freeware programs or commercial programs can be used for this).
I hope this info helps. I usually use Avant Browser, but I also use Firefox with the "Download Helper" add-on, that works with the new youtube format (I recently upgraded to the latest versions of Firefox and several of the add-ons, which are working well for me).
