RED-HOT RANT: 'What I hate the Most about MMORPGS'

MMORPGS. Discuss.

I just had the day from hell in my drug of Choice; Puzzle-Pirates. Not gonna bore you with details, but instead I'm going to talk about why I'm starting to hate this game.

- Everything's FREE* Up until you find the only way to afford anything is by making online purchases of play-money or Prepaid cards from TARGET. I committed so much God Damn Recourse into this game, it's cutting into my porn time.

- Rather than having levels to determine who's better at what (like say, Warcraft, or any other respectible MMORPG) , there is Experience, which always increass the more you work a puzzle (everything you do ingame is puzzle-related; from sailing a ship to forging a sword) and SKILL, which rises and lowers depending on your preformance on a puzzle. Lowest is ABLE, Highest is ULTIMATE.
To find the BEST players in the game, there are leaderboards that show the top 60+ people on the server (or ocean) that can do the puzzle better than you. there are FREAKS that have Ultimate everything; they have no souls, and are completeley and absoluteley devouted to the game. My highest skill is swordfighting, my favourite, and consequently, worst puzzle to play. I lose, I'm all 'Fuck you'. you have no Idea how hard I worked on getting my status up there. let me just have ONE stat that makes me better than everyone else.

-Then there are all manner of jerks and assholes; Shenanigans vary from hustling noobs (or 'Greenies' ) for their money, to Stealing goods and selling them for Poker money. Yes, the game has POKER, and it's not even a puzzle. To even hacking accounts or puzzles, stealing ships, or winning fights by default. I myself was hustled and stabbed by a man who revealed after I lost all my money starting out, that he was in the top 20 in the swordfighting puzzle.

- Clothes, swords, anything that isn't crap or a deed to a ship, proving ownership, deteriorates from NEW, to GOOD, to OLD, to 'your spiky Dildo (magenta, whte) Has crumbled and turned to DUST.' The item is removed from your inventory, and you have to be arsed to go to a store, buy another one, and wait for ever to get one.

-Pvping is re-god-damned diculous. because of some people who thought it'd be funny to sink a ship of mine, I've decided to throw my hands up in the air, say *FUCK IT* and swear Puzzle-Pirates off for a week or two... or three...

So, rather than having this thread 'Crumble and turn to dust', and get 0 replies, tell me what you can't stand about MMORPGS.

If anyone asks, Yes I have a life outside of this; it just sucks so God damned bad I need a release. and if I can strut as a pixelated Pantalooned pirate in Cyberspace, so be it.

I used to play a MMOFPS with RPG elements. It was bliss. The combat was pure faction based PVP, with all weapons equal, your selection based upon your certifications. As such no jerks, since a third of the players we're on your side, no scamming/gold farming, since any item except the few faction specific items could be gotten by anyone, and no targetting worse player to repeadedly kill, since they had an army on they're side.

But it was run by SOE, who decided if a game was one of a kind, it didn't need advertisment, or a stable engine, or update to show they're using your money on the game, or players for that matter.

sounds like you played Planetside, like myself.

i used to play it alot, but i just got tired of it. i mean, you'd do 5 minutes of shooting to an hour of gameplay.

i find myself playing WoW nowadays and i love it.
