What do people think, should George W Bush replace or keep Dick Cheney on the Republican ticket?

Mitch

Although I'm a Democrat, and will be voting for John Kerry, my vote would be to replace Dick Cheney. Although Cheney is intelligent to a degree, he is not likable at all. I think it appalling that he alledgedly called Democratic senator Pat Leahy the "F" word recently. While I dont like Bush, he at least tries to present the aura that he's likable by being an affiable guy, whether he's sincere or not. Cheney has no "bedside manner" so to speak, and, quite frankly, is the least likable vice president I can recall in my lifetime. George HW Bush, Dan Quayle, and Al Gore, whatever their shortcomings, didnt seem to invoke the negativity in the American people that Dick Cheney does. As I posted on here yesterday, even ultra conservative and hard nosed former senator from New York Al Damato has publicly said that Bush should replace Dick on the ticket. I dont think Bush will do this, because, quite frankly, Cheney is running operations from behind the scenes, with the war, and the Bush policy. Another problem for Bush if he does ask him to leave, is who replaces Dick. John Mccain would be a good choice, but Mccain and Bush have several imporant fundamental differences, and I dont think Mccain would run with Bush. In summary, the question here is do you think Bush should replace Dick? My answer to this question is yes. The problem for Bush is, who does he replace Dick with who has the same policies as he does?

The biggest problem with Cheney is the Haliburton issue. He being the head man there, really caused a problem especially, when they were awarded all those contracts.Kind of smelly if you ask me.Which, gives the Democrats lot's of ammo. But,you replace him and the people will think that the stories are all true and Bush will lose for sure.Kerry's running mate Edwards is a personal injury attorney or what I like to say ambulance chaser. He is a millionaire, just like Kerry, although his money is his wife's😉.Bush needs to keep Cheney and fight on.Changing running mates won't help or hurt

This election will come down to how the people veiw this war.I am a Republican, but I believe this war was just a personal thing,to finish what his dad started.I guess the older Bush was right not to attack Saddam. This war has accomplished one thing. To get all our young men and women killed for a country we destroyed amd now we are sinking billions of dollars to fix it.Seems a bit ironic to me.Bush needs to come up with something quick if he wants to keep my vote.

Traveler, although you and I are usually on differing political sides, I greatly respect your open mindedness. What this says to me is that you attempt to view situations realistically, and dont just support Bush without realistically assessing the situation. I completely agree with your statements on the war. If Bush had bombed Afghanastan, and captured Bin Laden, and the people responsible for 9-11, or if it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Saddam was directly behind 9-11, and was the culprit that killed thousands of innocent Americans on that day, then, regardless of party, I would have to say that Bush did the right thing, and would probably say he deserved to be re elected. The fact is, that the 9-11 commission has found no connection between Saddam and Al Queda, and it has to make one wonder what Bush was thinking when he pulled us into this war. Due to this, and the 1000 lives lost in the war, it tells me that this guy doesnt deserve to be re elected. I admire someone who is open minded enough to view their candidate realistically not according to party lines, and I wish more could be like you, viewing things realistically, instead of what they would like the situation to be.

I'm a lifelong conservative independant....and wish the president had replaced the vice-president with someone younger (maybe even me? 😀

As an Independant myself, I could't care less actually but if GB Jr. even wants a chance at a second term, Dick Cheney has got to go. The man is a human rock with NO personality whatsoever. In fact, a rock would win a personality contest with him.

TTD🙄

Dubya Bush replace Dick Cheney? Puh-leeze. That'd be like Mortimer Snerd replacing Edgar Bergen.

Although I think Cheney is a good VP, and would probably even make a decent pres, he has a really bad public image, some probably deservedly so, some not so. So I think the public in general get turned off by him by the mere mention of his name. If he was to dump him, I think Rudy would be the best choice as a running mate, as he's much more likeable, and more of a moderate who would appeal to Democratic swing voters. Just my humble two cent opinion.
