I love the Resident Evil game series since I first played it. I love the story lines behind the franchise. The new Resident Evil 6 game is has good graphics and its nice to see returning characters but I must rant though...I am getting tired of the new way to play of "panic fire." In the old games a gun was used to help survive the nightmare of being trapped but now it seems that all you do is fire away at hordes of zombies. Gets boring. I am wondering if game developers are thinking this generation is mindless and feels the old style of quiet rooms, searching for things to gain entry to secret entrances to evolve the story is just too much thinking on their part.

Man....it's depressing to hear that's what the game has come to! Very sorry to hear that. Has anyone seen the new movie yet? I'm hoping to go sometime this weekened or next week.

So is it a great game? Should it be a rental? A sure buy?

It is a great game. graphics are good, character control is good, gives you a lot of differnt moves, but there is a lot of quick-time-events and most of the game is shooting. Whether rent or buy is really up to how you like your games. I have fun with it but I just miss the "creep" factor of the originals... RE1-4.

They took both concepts of 4 and 5 combined. The zombies are intelligent but now use guns. So be prepared to be facing a shoot out with zombies.

Haven't seen it yet. None of my friends are into it like me and I don't want to go alone. I will wait for blue-ray.

I read terrible things about the game but already had it preordered so I decided to pick it up. Honestly, I'm having a lot of fun and I don't know why all the reviews are giving the game a rough time. The game is very long (for this kind of game) so it seems worth of a purchase to me. Granted, I didn't start playing RE until the fourth game because I've never owned a Playstation.

I'm not an action junkie either. I just finished playing all of the old Silent Hill games and loved them.. if I'm not mistaken the gameplay was fairly similar to RE.

RE4 will always have a special place in my heart. It was just so brilliantly made with the regenerators and the chainsaw swinging maniacs. I remember playing it for the first time when I came home from school, I was still in the 4th grade at the time so I did get freaked out but damn! Probably one of my all time favorite games. RE5 kinda let me down, there just wasn't the same element that made RE4 so enjoyable for me, the lickers in the game were excellent though. I can't wait to play RE6, hopefully it's nearly as good as RE4.

I've actually particularly enjoyed this one so far. The gameplay is a point of contention with some; RE has certainly stepped a good distance away from it's survival horror roots, but I'm in it for the story at this point, and the last game to legitimately scare me before the Dead Space franchise was the original Silent Hill, so I've stopped being disappointed by a lack of scares in horror games. Whatever your feelings on the gameplay, the controls are tight, and the addition of being able to aim while moving is a huge help.
The game does have both traditional zombies and the RE4/5 kind (the "zombies with guns" mentioned above, the J'avo.) The J'avo are a bit more challenging as enemies than the standard cannon fodder creatures of 4 and 5, with sharper AI and the ability to communicate with each other, as well as a much wider variety of dangerous mutations than the villagers of 4 or the Majini of 5. I've completed Chris's storyline, and though I can't say with certainly, my guess is that it's the heaviest on action; very much run and gun, a lot like RE5. I'm only one chapter into Leon's story, but I've found it to be a good deal creepier, with a larger focus on building tension than I felt in Chris's story.
The companions actually help in this one, as opposed to RE4's completely useless damsel in distress, and RE5's navigation challenged partner.
If you hated RE5, I wouldn't suggest purchasing this, but in my opinion, if you've ever been a fan of the franchise, it's at least worth a rental.

Capcom must have noticed how popular shooting games have become, causing them to think they could do the same with the Resident Evil series that has had a huge amount of fans over all those years. Some of them unfortunately complained about the fact that the games tended to repeat themselves. No company will ever be able to please ALL the people who buy, consume or play their products. Perhaps they think permanent action might distract from a less plausible story, they might feel they're out of ideas.

At first I didn't want to buy it at all, from what I heard I didn't feel like paying the full price for it. A few days ago I thought that maybe some of the locations will be nice to check out so I searched a bit and found a used copy.

Have played 3 chapters of the Leon scenarios and one with Chris. Latter is a bit much action for my taste, not really an action loving type myself. What IS awesome are the locations in Leon's chapters. The dark surroundings make me truly happy and some of the monsters look definitely cool. Shooting zombies is much more fun, too, even though there are always quite a few, as long as there is enough time to do my sightseeing tours I can live with it. Their scary moans, even from afar, add a lot to the horror atmosphere.

It goes without saying that the threats roaming the Resident Evil world don't only hunt at night, yet moving in darkness is REALLY creepy, with only a dim light from candles or a flashlight, having it attached to the character's head is pretty nifty as it's good to have both hands free for combat reasons, also kicking around the enemies whenever you like is lots of fun, after all any police officer is experienced in martial arts so this is an incredible development.

However, I must admit that I see neither part 5 or 6 as part of the game storyline, more like a fan project or something. The horror factor in Leon's chapters was totally worth the purchase though. I've been having such a great time and already see many more enjoyable hours to come. 🙂

Kinda off topic but does anyone know if there is a new left 4 dead coming out? I've heard many different things and I just want to get some clarification.
