With George Borgier, the original buyer of Ross'' company, Rossshell, being frozen in George's tracks due to tax department liens and freezes on all of George's companies, and assets, George Borgier was basically paralyzed from working in his own company, buying Ross out, or coming after Ross.
Now. Ross had two choices, keep RossShell and run it himself, or sell to someone else.
Yet, shortly after Ross's deal with George Borgier collapsed, a situation developed that sent Ross spinning.
Ross had to go for his physical. Ross's doctor was very concerned about Ross's health, and the doctor ordered Ross not to beat himself up with work.
Ross entered the apartment, and his wife, Kayley could immediately see from the look on Ross's face that something was very wrong.
"Okay, Ross out with it. I know from that look that the doctor told you something. I want to know what it is" Kayley said.
"My BP is very high, and the doctor told me to cool it with the working so hard. I'm going to have to hire a President to do the stressful work of RossShell, cool it,. and only work on some important accounts" Ross said sheepishly.
"You had better do what he says, Ross,. I dont want to end up a widow at an early age, you are too obsessed with business and making money"
"I thought about another thing. Maybe, become CEO of RossShell, stay out of the brutal work, and create a smaller company with only a few clients, fold Tim Patrick's work into my new company, and have a couple of other things, and then have the President to handle the brutal pressure, where all I do is do my work in the smaller company, and sit in on board meetings for RossShell and sign papers if needed" Ross said.
The next day, Ross went to the office, and put out feelers that he wanted to hire a President to do all the powerful decision making work of RossShell. He wanted someone with a great degree of experience who could do such,. Ross put out the word in the marketing world, and, after a few interviews with people who did not seem right for the position, Ross had an interview with seemingly the perfect candidate.
Victor M Barger walked into Ross's office. Barger was in his 50s, a professional, with many years of experience in marketing, who brought with him stellar letters of recommendation from his previous partners and supervisors.,
Ross and Victor met in Ross's office, then went to dinner at a fine restaurant.
"Vic, this interview is going excellent. You appear to be the perfect candidate for the position. You are hired, starting immediately" Ross said.
"Thank You, Ross/. I appreciate the opportunity." Vic said.
"Once the attorneys draw up your contract regarding your responsibilities, salary, bonus, etc, we will sign it, and it is done. At that point, you have full day to day control of RossShell. My attorney will just watch out for my interests, but he will not interfere in the day to day decisions of RossShell in any way. My door is always open to you to discuss anything with me. I am going to move out of my office, give it to you, and move my paperwork into a smaller office in the company. After I take a bit of a breather to make my wife get off my back, I think I am going to very quietly start a smaller company with just a few clients just to have something to do with my time. As you know, RossShell has been all consuming to me for years With that not an issue for me anymore, there is no reason I cannot run a small company. If my wife gets angry, I will find a way to calm her down
Ross said.
When Ross finished his meeting with Vic Barger, he went home, where he found Kayley.
"Okay, so what happened?" Kayley said.
"I just hired a guy named Vic Barger to run all the day to day President tasks with RossShell. He starts immediately. I'm going to give him my current office, and move into a smaller office in the same company of course, while taking only Tim Patrick with me to work on since he is my largest client. I might, and I emphasize might, start another smaller company with just a few clients including Tim Patrick, just to have something to do with my time. If I find the new company gets too big or time consuming. I will give RossShell, Vic, the current company the overflow, and just manage my work load. "Ross promised.
"No being the head of a mega secret company that you will let consume you like RossShell has" Kayley said.
Ross Saluted Kayley. "Yes, teacher, I promise I will keep my responsibilities in control,, for both my physical health, and my health with my wife" Ross said.
"Good for you" Kayley said, kissing Ross.
As Ross tried to go to sleep the night all these developments happened, he could not sleep. Ross did not like it, but it seemed like the only reasonable compromise. The only other way would have been to sell and give up RossShell outright, something he did not want to do.
Now, the question was, How would Vic Barger do in his new position, and what would happen with Ross, his health, and the idea of starting a new company.
That remained to be seen.
