Royal rumble

It was actually better than I thought it would be. The Benoit/Angle match was awesome, The Triple H/Steiner match was kind of a disaster as Triple H went out of his way to put Steiner over. The Rumble itself was a lot of fun, with some unexpected laughs through out.
The only real low points were the Torrie/Dawn Marie match(Zzzzzz)and Sean O'Haire's new promo(spotlighting his new "atheist" gimmick, hope they drop this bit quick.)

Drew😉

I used to be a huge wrestling fan. Not so much any more. WWE (WWF) has gotten so trashy and McMahon loves to see how much more trashy he can make it, without getting into trouble with the FCC.

The last time I watched WWE was when Trish Stratus and Ivory wrestled in a pool of gravy....I never really watched it much before and will never watch it again.

WWE has gotten so trashy, I don't think there is a word to describe just how trashy it is.

I fondly remember the days of "real wrestling" such as the Von Erichs/Freebirds/"Iceman" King Parsons/"Gentleman" Chris Adams/One Man Gang/Ric Flair (the real Ric Flair, not the WWE Corprate Ass-Kisser) and Rick Rude (once again the real Rick Rude and not the "playboy" gimmick cooked up by McMahon)

Ah, those were the days

Frankly, I thought the old stuff (20-25 years ago) was just as fake as some of what's seen today. I remember the vast majority of the guys looking a lot lit Stiner and Flair AFA the totally exaggerated reactions to shots that came no where near connecting. While some of the guys did have some athletic ability, I don't think it was even as much as there is today...which isn't a lot in a few of the guys. I have noticed, though, that a number of the guys seem to be dropping the flab, toning up and practicing their moves. So, I thiink the physical abilities are better now than before.

All that having been said, I thought the PPV was good as a whole. I very much enjoyed the Angle/Benoit match and thought the Rumble was fairly well orchestrated (esp. the end w/ Brock & Undertaker). But, Steiner and the Tori/Dawn bits need to go. None of the three can wrestle their way out of a paper bag. They need to build more around guys like Angle and Benoit who know what they're doing. While some of the story lines do go overboard or are just lame, I think a good many of them are fun. So, I don't mind things being staged...as long as it's well-done.

the Rumble was actually pretty entertaining. that Kurt Angle-Chris Benoit match was one of the best matches i have EVER seen. both guys are ring technicians, and put on one hell of a show. that match was definitely two thumbs up.

as for the Steiner-Triple H match. i really didnt like Steiner when he signed as i never liked his "Big Poppa Pump" character. no real flash or style. what happened to Steiner? he used to be a great ring technician. now, he just wrestles like a guy who cant even move. Vince McMahon will dump this guy soon enough.

as for the Rumble, it was pretty entertaining. i thought Jericho was going to be the last one to get dumped, so he could look foolish by not being able to win it after making it so far. the Undertaker returning was good, but i want to see him as the "Dead Man", not the biker gimmick. the only thing predictable about the Rumble was that you knew Brock Lesnar was going to win it.

the Torrie-Dawn Marie match was a little dull, but i like the storyline. it did have its moments like their fight at the funeral. that was some funny stuff.

on other notes, when the Rock returns he will probably be a heel. i will like the Rock no matter what as he is a great performer. but the strong rumors now are that Goldberg and Austin could be in WWE this year. imagine a Goldberg-Austin match at Wrestlemania. talk about hype. you never know, it could happen.

I watched the Rumble last night, and it was AWESOME! As far as the Rumble itself, I'm glad they went completely away from what I expected (Chris Jericho would win, and Shawn Michaels would last a lot longer than 3 minutes.), and it was awesome how they concluded with the 4 main powerhouses. This was a big man's rumble.

Also, the Benoit/Angle match was incredible. I don't think any of the other matches (aside from the Rumble itself.) kept my attention as much as this one. Those two are awesome to watch in action.

As far as complaints, I also didn't find the Torrie/Dawn Marie match to be much of an attention getter. The only divas I enjoyed seeing in the ring talent-wise are Chyna, Jackie, and Lita. Everyone else needs to practice a lot more with Fit Finlay. Also, I don't see the whole "death" thing as a great idea for a diva match.

Another gripe was the Triple H/Steiner match. I don't think Steiner really displayed his strength the way he should of. All I saw was about 500 belly-to-belly suplexes that started to draw boos from the crowd because it was getting boring. Granted, he tossed Triple H around like a rag doll, but not as much as I think he could've at his full potential. He could've at least gorilla-pressed him. Perhaps it's bad juju to have a "headliner" like Triple H to be manhandled by the likes of Scott Steiner, someone with a badass reputation, but who hasn't yet "proved himself" in the WWE.

Triple H/Steiner was horrible, because Steiner was completely out of breath after only a couple of minutes, and it showed. Triple H was showing more animation than he has in months to try and make Steiner look good, but that sack of steroids just couldn't keep up. That botched Tiger Driver attempt, when he nearly dropped Triple H on his head, should have been enough to convince WWE to send him home. No such luck, though, it seems.

The Rumble was better than last year's, although I think 2001's was better than this one. It started out strong, but they let the ring get too crowded with guys just sitting around and punching aimlessly. A bit predictable, as primetime said, but they had some great stuff on the way -- particularly the comedy bits with Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore. It was a great way to start 2003 after a less than inspiring 2002.

As for you, 750, I'll put Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, and the Guerreros up against anyone from 20 years ago in terms of athletic ability, entertainment value, and wrestling skill. Only Flair or Rick Rude in their primes could match them. The Angle/Benoit match from last night was an absolute clinic in how to have a great pure wrestling match, and the crowd knew it.

Kurt Angle? Please. Chris Beniot has skill, but Angle is a complete and total joke.

Yeah, he must have found those gold medals in a Cracker Jack box or something. And he probably bribes the crowds to go nuts for him. How many Angle matches have you actually seen?

Kurt Angle a joke? in no way shape or form is Kurt Angle a joke. his characrer is great AND his wrestling skill is amazing. watching him against guys like Benoit, Edge, and Rey Mysterio have been classic matches. Kurt Angle also sells his opponents moves quite well, better than others. Angle is THE man. his goofy character is also great. he reacts with the crowd quite well. he will be a superstar for a LONG LONG TIME. a joke? i dont think so. what makes you think he is a joke anyway?
