Famous actress and civil rights activist Ruby Dee died peacefully at home yesterday. She was 91 years old.
Her only Oscar nomination came in 2007 for "American Gangster," but I think her finest role was much earlier, in "A Raisin in the Sun" (1961).
She was a friend of Rachel Robinson whom she portrayed in "The Jackie Robinson Story" (1950).
