Santa playing a prank on German police?

A practical joker played a prank on the police in Leverkusen, Germany, last night. To understand it, you must know that we celebrate Santa Claus Day today (12/6) separately from X-mas. Kids are placing their boots on doorsteps and window sills for Santa to fill them with sweets, usually on the preceding evening.

Last night, the prankster pulled red Santa Claus caps over all the permanently installed radar speed traps in Leverkusen. But the police reacted with some humor. Their spokesman stated: “We fully know that Santa Claus is very busy that night, filling all the kids’ boots with sweets, and he must have been in a hurry. So we think we know the culprit: Santa himself. The only problem is how to locate him now, as the North Pole is not within our jurisdiction.”

Isn’t it good to know that the cops have a little humor sometimes, too? 😀

Bravo! Speed traps suck, and it's good to see the police have a sense of humor, too! I wonder what the American police would say in such a situation. 🙄 Thanks, Hal! 😀

Alex, I do not think they would all a sense of humor. Especially when you get further in the South! Beware!!!!

St Nick would have to break the speed limits to hit everyone! They think the pole is out of their jurisdiction, they should try heaven! lol

Cute story, Hal.

This report came on the radio today, and I found it cute, too, that's why I wanted to share it with you.

It's not really difficult to find most of the speed traps here in Germany. You can actually buy city maps with the permantent ones marked as logo, and the mobile ones are reported on radio constantly. The only disadvantage: By the time it takes to find a trap-free route somewhere, you'd also be there at regular speed... 🙄 Most of the permanent ones are near schools anyway, where no responsible driver exceeds speed.

Yeah, I never speed around schools or residential areas, only where it's safe, like open roads. 😀 What pisses me off is when they're hidden, and only a radar detector can get 'em! 😡 Someday I'm going to buy one of those. 😛

Flying objects...

Some years back, two British policemen were manning a speed trap on a coastal motorway. Their radar suddenly registered 500 km/h and then stopped working, burned out. The saw a military aircraft over the ocean, drew the proper conclusion, and filed a complaint with the RAF, requesting funds to replace the radar.

The RAF replied that the aircraft in question had been engaged in an exercise with live ammunition. Its onboard electronics interpreted the police radar as enemy antiaircraft installation, jammed it, and armed a rocket. Fortunately for the policemen, the pilot disabled the auto-fire sequence before the rocket was launched. The RAF letter concluded by strongly advising the police to keep their radar aimed inland in the future.

That's a great story, Strel! I almost wish the RAF had not disabled the auto-fire sequence. Thanks! 😀

Oh boy! If they'd fired the rocket, I'm sure the cops would have gotten a real bang out of it!

Sorry! I couldn't resist! 😀
