Scheduled Server Move

This is to give everyone a heads up that sometime soon the site will be switching servers. We are upgrading to a better system setup to avoid the somewhat common crashes the site seems to suffer from. However the move is within the same server company so I am hopeful that there will be no downtime with this transition.

However, if there is any downtime on the tickletheater.com site be aware that tickletheater.net will point to the IP address of the new server until the name resolves if it needs to which I don't think it does. Enjoy leapday everyone! 🙂

Yay! Hopefully this will keep the site from being plagued by downtimes. It's gotten better in the last few weeks though. Hopefully this will eliminate the problem altogether.

No, there is not. Although it may sound easy to do a database backup, it's really not with one this size. The only time I could do a full backup without a server crash was in the early hours of the morning when traffic is at its lowest.

Combine that with the fact it took twice as long as I'd hope (and was promised) to get the new server setup & login so I could move the files over, and then redirect you guys to the new IP address and it was just not possible. Sorry...

Well, we'll just keep in mind server upgrades require a lot of time and resources. 🙂

Should need arise again, I'll just refrain from posting huge files or long messages during scheduled upgrades. 😀
