{Since we have such a wide variety of members, I thought I'd pose this question to all.}

As I get older, my fondness for soothing, beautiful female vocal stylings grows, and I was wondering if fellow members can point me in the direction of artists I might have missed that I would appreciate.

For a general idea of some I currently enjoy, think: Kate Bush, Morsheeba, Tracy Chapman, Tori Amos, Samantha James, Cibo Matto, DeadCanDance, The Cocteau Twins. Obviously, there's a wealth of great singers I'm probably missing, so, help me out, here!

Lush, sensual female voices? Yeah, I like em. Especially female versions when shhhh me with their lips ever so close to my bucking pelvis and I moan in my gag and thrash in my bonds...right before they caress me there...over and over and OVER. ^_~

It seems impossible to me that you might have missed out on Barbra Streisand. If, by chance, you have not heard her Higher Ground Album, you are in for a treat.

You also did not mention Karen Carpenter. She fills in several cuts on Saint Peter's mix disc/tape/whatever.

Of course, Karen and Barbra are standard bearers to those of who love the voice of a gifted woman. Beyond their complete works, I can recommend specific tracks only.

Anne Murray -- Just Another Woman in Love.
Duffy -- Warwick Avenue
K T Tunstall -- The Other Side of the World
Rita Coolidge -- I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love
Celine Dion -- Call the Man
Linda Ronstadt -- The Moon's a Harsh Mistress
Shakespeare's Sister -- Stay
Natalie Imbruglia -- Torn
Janet Jackson -- Again
Idina Menzel -- Brave
Kristen Chenoweth -- For Good
Edie Brickell etc. -- Circle
Fifth Dimension (Marilyn McCoo) -- Last Night, I Didn't Get to Sleep at All
Fergie -- Big Girls Don't Cry
Melissa Manchester -- Don't Cry Out Loud
Vonda Shepard -- Maryland
Julia Fordham -- Love Moves in Mysterious Ways
Missy Higgins -- Where I Stood

Surely even a collection as eclectic as this is strung from a common thread, you suspect. Congratulations on your perspicacity, sir!

YouTube.

I have thoroughly enjoyed several of your posts. I hope this one serves in some small way to repay your many good efforts. Enjoy.

A fine repayment indeed, sir! I will certainly give another listen to those I'm familiar with and look into those who are new to me! :walkman:

The name, Barbara Streisand evokes in me, the image of a raspy voice.

I've heard of her...I've just never listened to her work, never knew she had work. I always thought she had a raspy voice. Her name sounds so raspy.

I honestly don't know if she sings much anymore. She was hugely popular when I was a kid. Incredible pipes, but not the type of tunes that typically appeal to me.

De gustibus, non disputandum. In matters of taste, there can be no argument.

Or endless argument. To my mind, it's a damned shame when any listener doesn't treat his ears as well as he can -- whatever his tastes. That goes double for the fairer half.

Lest ye think me mudbound a fragment of treebranch, know that my collection includes Southern Rock, soundtracks, Sinatra, Robbie Williams and room to grow.

Anyway, I forgot to mention Vanessa Williams' The Sweetest Days. And Stephanie Mills' Never Knew Love (Like This Before). And Maryland by Vonda Shepard. And ...

Well, you get the idea.
