Sex In The Classroom

Sex education is necessary but the question is at what grade?
I think junior high school is about right myself but that is just my opinion. As for abstinence well it is certainly the best way to avoid aids, syphilis, gonorrhea and other STDs. However I think if one is careful about who one sleeps with then one can still have a little "mattress magic" and not have too worry. Of course using a condom is good advice as well but remember that is secondary or back-up protection. Would you knowingly sleep with someone if you knew they had aids if they or you were using a condom? I think not.

Talk about a misleading post! 😀 I pretty much agree with Kurch. Abstinence works for me (not that I'm a priest or anything). 😛

Good question

Very important SI, but what grade are we talking about here?🙂

It is also imporant at home, in my opinion. Parents should also get involved, but most parents don't feel they can talk to their kids about this🙁 sad but true. In most cases, I don't have any children but I lot's of nieces and nephews and my brother and sister do not feel comfortable talking about sex with them.🙁

Kids need to be aware as soon as they hit 7th grade. Abstinance, proper use of condoms, and STD awareness need to be taught TOGETHER. However the last thing a young teen needs is some youth pastor telling him/her they're going to hell if they have premarital sex. :sowrong:

The only problem I have with sex in the classroom is I keep banging my knees on those little desks!

Well..SOMEONE had to say it!😛

I agree with you on this SI, you say 7th grade😕 my nephew who is in second grade just recently was comforted by another little boy that he was going to give him a blow job😱 being told all his life that he can come and talk to my brother and his wife about anything, he did. They couldn't talk to him about this, my brother told me he was too embarrassed about talking about sex. Seems kids today are going up faster these days, and I do think sex education is extremely important! Everything, abstinance, the proper use of a condom, std awareness and pregnacy, most parents NOT ALL but some, think that they will learn it on their own or through friends. What if they are told the wrong thing?🙁 And you bet'cha that can happen!
Sex is beautiful and should not be made out that it is bad, ugly or make them feel it is bad, ugly or wrong! At the right age of course!😀
Ok, I have rattled on too much....I'll leave now🙂

I'm one of those parents that tells it like it is when one of my kids asks a question. I think if they're old enough to ask, they're old enough to hear the truth. In 1st grade my son already knew how babies are made. When it came up in conversation at school he came home and told me all of his friends' silly stories. Their parents were very uncomfortable with my son having given their kids real info. I can't understand that. I believe that being well-informed, not blindly following rules, is the basis for sound decision-making. As for sex ed in schools, it can't hurt. It can only help kids whose parents haven't done their job.

I agree with my whole heart!!

I once got some of the old folks in church upset when during a sermon I said, "Let's face it, sex is fun. It is also very powerful. That's why it deserves to be protected in marriage and not misused outside of marriage. We should always protect the most valuable things in life." I think the old folks stopped listening after the first sentence because they thought sure that the teens in church were going to run right out and have sex right away because the preacher said it is fun.

If only those old people knew how much kids know about sex waaaayyyy before the teen years.

BTW all the parents of teens in church that day thanked me more than once for that sermon.

If having premarital sex sends you to hell I think heaven is going to be a very empty place.
