O.k, I'm being very skee-rewed and ripped off right now by 2 national companies, and I'm sure many of you are, or have, going/went through similar. When I look at the problems with Merill Lynch, Tyco, Enron et al, it makes me wonder. And political affiliation seems not to matter much. In years past, the congressional check bouncing scandal mostly involved Democrats, but the Savings and Loan problems mostly involved Republicans. From Milli Vanilli to Whitewater and the Iran/Contra affair, it seems that under the capitalist system of the democratic republic we live in, money, it's pursuit and use are causing so many problems and much corruption. So communism looks pretty good.
Except - While communism might be more fair on paper, in practice there's power held by very few over very many, and corruption could not only occur easliy, but couild remain very well hidden. So communism get s a bad mark. Plus, if you do have a unique skill, talent or idea to make a little extra $$ than your neighbor, it's discouraged or halted outright. Another bad mark.
At least under the capitalist system anyone can attain money and use it as he sees fit. It might be harder for some to get a loan, it could be harder for some who lack the knowledge, experience or ability to use capital to generate more, and the inherent risks are bigger becasue the socail safty net is not all encompassing. But there are no actual laws that say any one person or group of people cannot make make and keep money. At best, you could make $$$ and use it to fight corruption, or, at worst, make your money and join in on the corruption. Either way, if you succede, it's your money and your choice. So that's a good mark for capitalism.
BUT right now I'm the one being corrupted against! So what do I do? Are there any capitalists out there who had to fight corruption thrust upon them and remained free to taste liberty? Any communists who have practical hands-on experience who could give me some pointers in the fight against evil, damnedable democracy and freedom?
