I was at the beach last Sunday (I am in India, so no cold weather to bother about) with my girlfriend... and was getting a nice suntan after an oil massage... relaxing on the sand... when something started tickling violently on my right side. I doubled over with laughter and jerked violently... I thought it was my girlfriend... but it was a teensy weensy beetle which had crawled up my side!!! Now I have always been hyperticklish on my upperbody (and my ticklishness has kept increasing, I am much more ticklish now than I was a few years before -> refer my post titled Ticklish Muscles) and my sides have been THE spot, so I am outta scale ticklish on my sides... but ticklish to this extent!!! I had no freaking idea!!!

Now am I wrong or is this being exceptionally ticklish? Something much more than what is meant by being ticklish normally... anyone else feels that he/she is as ticklish... or perhaps more?

You definitely sound very ticklish from what you wrote. You might even be a 10 on the ticklish scale which means you are not just extreamly ticklish but hyper ticklish. People who are hyper ticklish are so ticklish they can't control themselves at all. When tickled it seems like they want to jump right out of their skin. You may not naturally be hyper ticklish though, the combination of the sun and oil could have made you much more ticklish then you normally would be.

You certainly do seem to be exceptionally ticklish, but I don't think you are alone. I, too, am highly ticklish and am exceptionally sensitive on a spot on my sides. It is about the same height as my navel and it is closer to my back than my abs. I respond to light touches there, especially surprise touches, by letting out an involuntary scream followed by peels of laughter. I also either jerk or jump depending on the posture I am in. I have heard other ticklish people say this is one of their most sensitive areas along with the feet, armpits, etc. Is this where the beetle tickled you? Is this spot especially ticklish for you and for others who read this?

Speaking of being exceptionally ticklish, I can't stand to wear a loose fitting shirt because the movement of the fabric tickles. I have to wear a snug fitting soft undershirt to avoid this. I have never heard anyone else talk about this but I always figure that when I see a guy with a loose fitting shirt blowing around his torso in a breeze that he is not sensitive to light tickling. My chest and abs are moderately hairy and I can't stand to go without a shirt when there is a breeze because the movement of the body hair tickles. I have never heard anyone else talk about this either but I have seen other guys at the beach rub their abs etc. and cover up when a breeze comes along. I cannot stand to stay in a sauna when I really begin to sweat because the sweat trickling down my body relly tickles. Once again, I have never heard anyone else talk about this; however, I have seen a few other guys react the way I do in that situation which is to frantically try to wipe each tickling trickle of sweat so that your hands are rubbing all over the place and then almost run out of the sauna. These ticklish traits cause me to squirm and to take actions to avoid them. On some occasions they actually make me laugh especially when they surprise me, but that is brief as I can quidkly take control to stop the tickling. Do you or others reading this share these or other highly ticklish traits?

i too have a hyper-ticklish spot.

but then, i think almost all of us do. it's not so odd, or unusual to have a spot, that when stimulated causes extreem ticklish reactions. i think having them, and knowing they are there is a lot of fun! the better to guide your ler too!
