Ok, this is very quick, but for historic reasons - or even non-historic reasons - I am compelled to post it!
In the 1918 French film, "The Tenth Symphony" (directed by Abel Gance), a man walks into a swingin' dinner party. Watch the two girls wearing backless dresses, sitting nearest to the camera. He walks to the one on the left and tickles her under arms (just what you would do to a girl wearing a dress like that!). She reacts just as you'd hope. Then he walks towards the other one and she leaps up in defense. He swoops her up into his arms and carries her over to the table where another man may start tickling her neck, I'm not sure, she starts kicking furiously.
The first time I saw it, I was so focused on the girl on the right that I completely missed the tickling of the first girl. Only because he swept her up did I rewind it and happen to catch the first attack. Close call! Almost missed it!
Silent films were often "undercranked" so they would be slightly "speedier" (you see this alot in comedies). This film is no exception....it's best seen in slow motion, either by using Quick Time, or a VLC player (i don't know of any others that allow you to slow mo, or advance one frame at a time.)
So here it is, 98 years ago....
