Site Stops Responding

The last three days, I have been finding that this site stops responding or runs abnormally slowly, to the point where it may occasionally take up to five minutes for a page to open. This is a worse version of the site slowdown problems I reported last year, and which seem to have been fixed at that time.

This happens with both Firefox and Internet Explorer on my (horrible) 56k dial-up, but other vBulletin sites respond normally. Ping responses from TT are normal, in the 260ms range.

Thanks,

It took three minutes (measured) for the above message to be posted after I clicked to submit the post 🙁

WHEW!
That's a relief. I thought that this was only happening to ME!
It's good to hear that this was not isolated. the only thought running through my mind was "ah, crap. I've picked up a virus." Even if the problem can't be fixed right away, it still is a big relief to find out that my computer isn't being hijacked by comp hackers.

Or a flaming goat porn site from alabama. :wooha:

I don't know, i haven't got this trouble, i have cable-modem and a firewall installed. I've seen sometimes that my login is out, but only occasionally, the rest is all ok. I wish you both better luck !.

I have had a real big lag a couple of times recently. I have an extremely fast connection but every now and then nothing will load for a few minutes at a time. Doesnt happen often though.

I sometimes have this trouble too when I have other programs running, like Word. Not seldom when I close Word there is a huge amount of text in memory. Don't know where it comes from. Often closing this program helps. If not, I restart my pc. I use Firefox, but IE sometimes has the same problem. Dit you try to restart your pc?

Sounds like the Database might be swelling up again. What joy. 😛 Not nearly as bad as it was last year YET, but it is happening. I haven't noticed lag as severe as your's, Missy Val, but I have noticed a slowdown.

Thanks, everyone, for your feedback and information 🙂 I'm relieved to know that it isn't just my 'puter messing up again.

Red, after I disconnected and reconnected using a different phone number, the board appeared normal again and is continuing to act normal so far. HDS, you're probably correct about the database size causing some of the lags.
