I joined Twitter the other day..but i can't for the life of me, figure out how it works..i mean to me it looks like facebook..which i find rather dull...so i deactivated my account...what makes Twitter so successful??

Discuss...

I really dont even know what it is or the appeal. All I know is that the word's "tweet" and "tweeting" are enough to keep me away from it forever.

When i see the word tweet..i think of The Jackson Five's old song...Rocking Robin..tweet tweet tweet...

You would make any site successful with your presence, of that iam sure hun.

This is what I think of..... A GIANT DOUCHE

Looks like a big seltzer bottle in front of a podium with a cartoon cat behind it!

Actually, "tweet" sounds like something from a children's video game. Or the 1960's street name of a drug (dexedrine, if memory serves).

I think Twitter's appeal is its immediacy, and the strictly-enforced message length rule.

Twitter is successful because some famous people post or ''tweet'' what they are doing at any given time along with pictures sometimes. For example Evanescence has a Twitter.

I joined Twitter a few months ago...not logged onto it since...it's just dull. Facebook is better as there is more to do on there. Twitter is like a really really basic version of Facebook in the sense of status updates and sending messages to people.the only thing going for it is celebrities use it.But some people like I,I personally don't see the attraction.

It's like facebook, except only with status updates. And you can send said updates via text. Plus unlike facebook, you can make your tweets public without privacy risk.

You mean I can blab and gossip about anything I want, so anyone I allow can listen? I can be so self-absorbed that I can feel like everyone in the world actually wants to and is hanging on every word I type??? Really? For sure?????

::: palm smack to forehead:::mumbles::: ...what ego-stroking genius came up with this idea....

"I'm brushing my teeth now. I'm using an Oral B..." Oh wait, this isn't Twitter, is it? 🙂

I'm coughing my lungs out..ooo wait this isn't twitter...giggles...and Hawk lol..like Bella said..a rich one..gesh..

I have no interest to join twitter its just not that entertaining to me but i guess some people like it

It's good to find some fellow Twitter-haters like myself...

I have enough coping on here let alone other social networking sites.:stickout

Looked at the other sites and don't have a problem, but never liked twitter then it could be a age related thing, i think twitter is more for teens, but i accept older people do go there, just not my thing i guess.

If you didn't work well with Facebook, Twitter isn't going to be your thing either. Facebook at least allows me to communicate with friends and family~ I get to stay in touch with people and share pictures and their thoughts and it's all interconnected. Twitter is basically a minifacebook, with far less interaction amongst friends~ it's just a series of broadcasts.

Edit: Jesus fdadfajfka~ this thread is ancient. -_- Can it be locked or something? Sigh~

I agree about locking but currently there arn't that many good threads being posted so folk who bump these help the forum along in one way.

But in another way people who arn't new have seen it before, and possibly already commented, and the originator is not always about to comment.

I don't bump very often but i do admit to answering 🙂

Its a catch 22 (damned both ways)

I think the attraction for some people is that it's free text messaging that goes to a group rather than individuals so it provides people who text everything they do a cheap alternative.

Just like any technology it's a good idea abused by people who have no sense - like mobile phones. A great idea to contact people anytime and invaluable in an emergency. But what are the most common conversations?

"I'm on the train"

"I'm outside now about to ring the doorbell"

etc.
