So, it looks like the Comcast and Time Warner Cable merger is all but official.....

This is a tragedy for a lot of people, myself included. If I have anything less than TWC/CC, I won't be able to stream Netflix, game, or do much of anything in my spare time online.

If I DO keep it, I'll (probably, most likely) be capped at 300 gigs a month. That sounds like a lot, but I do a lot of gaming related stuff, Netflix, Hulu, etc etc.

This kind of monopoly will only halt innovation from companies like Netflix, Hulu, or just about any website that uses flash, or hell, even images.

Depending on the number of people in one's household, say, a family of 4, they could potentially be overcharged by their cellphone company for data usage for work related things, seeing as how it would be less of a charge than the data cap with their TWC/CC plan.

Sorry to hear about your situation, Leo.

As you see from my posts.. Time Warner sucks. It';s going to take a week to get someone to my apartment, to deal with the poor connection problems I'm having. When I lived in Lancaster, we had Comcast there, and were forever having problems with them.

Two bad companies, merging to have a monopoly. Worse news for their customers in all places.

I've learned to just wait out most issues I have. I have the highest speed they offer to residential, and while it usually maintains the jitter and ping times can be atrocious, canceling out the speed.

One has no choice but to wait out most issues, but it can be a pain.

Lately, when I've been watching my favorite newscast from Philadelphia, I either haven't been able to access it, or I get a message that keeps saying "Loading". It's such a pain.

I'll say it will be. If it goes through, it's back to Verizon DSL (can't afford or get FIOS)...back to dealing with a phantom company (no showrooms like their mobile phone business, just an 800 number staffed by robots)...back to their shitty offshore "customer service"...back to paying for a ground-line phone that I'll only use occasionally, if at all...

My biggest fear, especially with net neutrality on the ropes, is that sites like the one we're now on will be moved to the back of the cyber-bus, or get censored altogether.
