I just found out that on Friday someone was logged in under my name and it wasn't me. I don't know what they did online while I was not on but if you saw any posts or im's from QBWeaver from about 4:30 Friday afternoon until 2:15 on Sunday (Pacific Time) it wasn't from me.

I've changed all my passwords and I'm scanning the net now to see what was possibly done under my name.

And Thanks for the heads up Danimal. I appreciate it.

Nah..

You don't need to hack to get that sort of info. All you need is a wordlist. With websites that have screen names it's ridiculously easy. It's fucked up, but it's easy as hell and isn't at all hacking because you're not accessing someone elses computer, nor are you infringing on someones privacy. Screen names are public domain.

How The Hell...

Does stealing a screen name relate to serious world problems.
I'll give ya a clue
Any problem on the internet, especially one in a message type environment, does NOT qualify as either a serious or a minor world problem.

A sign that I am online too much. Or, it could be because I have given up on Humanity. They will never stop killing each other and generally being idiots. So I ignore all real world problems. But, I digress.

posting as someone else is at the very least unethical and akin to stealing the identity of another. May not be a big deal to you Tron, but to others it is depending upon what is being said by the impostor.

It can be very serious indeed.

Fortuntely it looks like all is well. I haven't found anything on the web and everything else looks to be fine.

So it's just some idiot with too much time on their hands. So no biggie.

venray..

I agree. I don't think it's right, but it's hardly hacking, nor is it a problem of any import to the world.

I'll email a friend of mine who happens to be in Iraq and see if he gives a shit....

I used to publish my password in here. But changed it because they enabled the PM function and I wanted to protect the PMs of those who send them to me.

I am happy the person caused no damage to Jan, but is she sure someone had her password?

Tron

If they posted in this forum or in our chat room they would have had to have her password to log in.😉

The person at least got my password to my AOL account but I don't see that they posted anywhere including here on the TMF. But the password has been changed as a precautionary measure and AOL is investigating even though no harm seems to have occured.

Oh, and Ray...

NOT necessarily an accurate statement, bro. Some people can have the website bookmarked so that it automatically logs them in/recognizes them when they click on it in their "Favorites" list. But yeah, scary to think that someone can sign on under your name and make trouble.
