Soongkran Anyone?

Hi gang: I am interested in going to thailand during the soongkran festivial. For those who don't know its a festivial held in Thailand during mid-april and it is basically one big water fight. (A bit of searching on the net will tell you more. I was wondering if anyone here has been to thailand during that time and did you go on a tour or by yourself and basically your experience there. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do it man! I was there for it last year by accident, rolled off the plane after having no sleep for around 28 hours, walking down the road with my backpack like a zombie and I get hit in the face by a bucket of water thrown from a truck! After that intitial shock I decided to tool up so I went and bought a big ass super soaker and spent the rest of the day shooting Thai kids. Good fun.

Bangkok is mental at the best of times but doubly so during soongkran. If your going to be there expect BIG crowds, book well in advance and be very careful with your belongings. I know so many people who have been robbed out there it's ridiculous.
