Well, I knew I enjoyed being tickled when I was around 5, but I kept that information to myself all through my childhood. When I was around 20, I realized it was actually a fetish for me, but at that time I only shared that revelation with my husband. A few years later, I discovered the net and found out I was not alone (same story we all have been through...lol), and that somehow helped me to decide to open up about it to a few people. I started with a few online friends who I knew outside of the tickling community, and when they reacted really cool and accepting of it, I decided to move on and try it out on a few real life friends.
I was amazed at the reactions I got. Every single friend I told (and I wound up opening up to every single good friend I had) had a great attitude about it, and completely accepted it. No one treated me like a freak, or said anything to make me uncomfortable. In fact, a few of them now take a special interest in tickling me whenever we are together *WEG*
The final hurdle was my parents. I never planned on telling them about it, but about 6 months ago, my Dad found out where I was chatting every night (here at the TMF), and confronted me about it. I wanted to die on the spot, and began looking for the nearest exit. This was NOT something I wanted to share with my parents! But they, like my friends, wound up being very open-minded and cool about it. The whole time I was sitting there blushing profusely, they kept saying "Why are you so embarrassed?? It's ONLY tickling! That's not bad at all. There are far worse things you could be into." Meanwhile I am begging them to please change the subject.
After my husband and I returned from the Super Bowl Gathering in Albany NY, they actually asked to hear the details of the party. I kept it fairly gray, only summarizing minor points and events of the trip, but enough to where they understood the gist of what happens at them. When I finished, my Dad commented "Sounds like torture to me!!". Ummmmm, yeah Dad. That's kinda the whole point... 😀 😀 😀
