Probably not a lot of hockey fans here...but for those who are, let's discuss, shall we?

Specifically...'tis strange how half of the quarterfinal series so far have gone to 7 games. And the amount of overtime games is pretty interesting as well.

I think it really shows how there's no real clear-cut favorite this year. The defending champs are out in the first round...their opponents from last year barely survived a 7-game series against Buffalo...the always-fun Montreal/Boston rivalry goes to 7, Pittsburgh blew a chance to clinch and have to go to 7 against Tampa...

I really do not think I can pick a clear favorite to win it all at this point. There doesn't seem to be a clearly dominant team.

Going with my gut alone, though...I have this weird feeling about Vancouver. Who knows?

Vancouver is the best team, but I think it's the Shark's year for some reason

I have to go with Vancouver or Montreal. Vancouver just beat the defending Stanley Cup Champions but usually the playoffs come down to a case of survival and grit, not taking stupid penalties and who has the least amount of injuries. Hitting from behind has gotten way out of hand. Seriously though, I,m not sure if Vancouver is tough enough to grind it out until the end. I actually picked Detroit, Chicago to repeat or Pittsburgh but without Malken and Crosby, I don,t see them making it. Tampa Bay Lightning has a dangerous team and may be peaking at the right time, but so do the San Jose Sharks and they might surprise everyone.

You know, I do agree with the folks talking up San Jose. They've always made the playoffs as "also-rans", but this year, they may have something.

I'm with the Bruins all the way. I think that they can take the Flyers but I'm not sure after that. I'm pretty satisfied with the defeat over Montreal. Anything the Bruins do past that is all just a bonus.

I've been waiting for the Flyers to win since 1976!! I think they have a chance but I am forever an optomist!

I haven't been following it. Anyone know how the Sabers have been doing?

Sorry Rox, they played well but they are gone. I,m worried about San Jose now, they have Detrroit next and are in very tough, perhaps against the best team in the league, who knows?. Joe Thornton is a great player but he can be a choker, ask Featherdaemon, he,s a Boston fan, and Thornton used to play for them.

Wow, starting to get one of those "underdog" feelings about Detroit these past few games. I just watched Game 5 of the San Jose/Detroit series, and the Red Wings are on a roll. Coming back from a 0-3 deficit in games...then tonight, just wow. Down 3-1 in the third period, Detroit just came alive and showed an incredibly aggressive defense...scoring 3 goals in the third and two of them within two minutes. That may have been the best single period of hockey I've seen in a VERY long time.

So, the series goes back to Detroit for Game 6 and who knows? They win that one and force a Game 7, we could be seeing a real Cinderella story in the NHL this year.

I'm hoping for a Boston win, but my gut lies with Vancouver...

Game 7!! It is all or nothing now. If the Bruins can actually score a goal or two in Vancouver that is all we need. The Canucks have got to be nervous. They were supposed to be the big favorites and take the series in 5. The Horton hit was such a lousy cheap shot especially coming after the bite. We are going to see if that hit will mean the Stanely Cup goes to Boston or if the Canucks will dodge the icey hand of elimination.

I can't wait!

This was a good series! I was pulling for Vancouver, as I'd like to see the Cup back in Canada and end this longest-ever drought...but I found it hard to root against Boston. Winning three Game 7's in the playoffs is no small matter.

It looked even and very winnable by the Canucks until Games 6 and 7. The Bruins just took over. Especially in the final game, they were simply everywhere. I think the real death knell was the shorthanded goal the Bruins scored on Vancouver's power play. Just seemed to suck the energy right out of the Canucks.

I have friends in Vancouver, and it's a beautiful city...but I was embarrassed for them during the rioting. Those people do not represent Vancouver.

Congrats to the Boston Bruins for their first Cup since '72!!!

Dammit! The Bills I can understand losing at football. After all, they've got a COMPLETELY senile 90+ something old man for an owner making all their decisions for them. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THOUGH WHY SABERS? WHY? WHY DOES BUFFALO HAVE TO SUFFER SO!
