Starting out

Some while ago I took it upon myself to start trying to learn how to draw, because other people do it and I'm tired of just being all like "wish I could do that". As a result, I've spent time and effort and a whole lot of guest passes at the gatehouse I spend my nights sitting in (my primary source of paper, heh) and so far have come up with one drawing that I didn't want to tear to peices after I stepped back and took a look at it. Let me know what you think. Included are the original scan (B&W) and a colorized version by my very talented pal, who has no interest in the TK community at all.

If I can get the proportions better (her legs are too short, and I'm thinking the hand is too small, maybe 's just me), and learn how to draw bare feet without making them. y'know, bad, I'll start on TK pics. Let me know what you think!

Edit - I thought I'd explain her ears. She has jackass ears. It's the result of a rather stupid inside joke involving notes written on the side of early attempts at drawing the same character. She has a tail, too, but it's not featured here. When I stop sucking so bad, I might fully convert her to human. Until then, she remains half-assed (pun, sadly, intended). Oh, yeah, and that's a lit fuse sticking out from behind her. I dunno why, I added it last minute, because I'm silly like that.

Let me guess, she is King Midas' other daughter? (testing all the other's memory of Greek mythology)

Looks very good, keep it up. Practice will only make you improve!

Thank you all, every one of you who encouraged me to continue down this (previously ill-fated) road I've chosen. I just get a bit discouraged at times, feeling like if I'm not good enough now, I never will be...It's easy to forget that it's a rare one that is born good. I'll keep practicing, and the next post will be even better. Thank you again for your kind words.
