But before I get into that, I want to make a quick observation about the Yacqi thing and Stern. Basically Stern's reaction to Yacqi is a business decision. By ripping on the Yacqi dude, he appeals to all the listeners who think is tickling is weird and creepy, plus it preserves his show as being unique, not mainstream (although it really is, otherwise Stern wouldn't be as rich as he is) and with the requisite shock appeal. The very fact Yacqi is there and tickling is allowing Stern's show to appeal to people like us who are into "it" anyway, so he has both groups covered. I think Stern quite shrewdly is pushing tickling because he has a gut instinct that he is onto something : the wave is building momentum. Think of the tickling thing as a big hamburger that is slowly being cooked, once it is done enough it will be fed to the public in general. Since people are conforming , once they see that there neighbors are openly into tickling, they will come out of the closet and the momentum will build.
We already see similar things happening on TV now. FOX is airing a game show that deals with light bondage as a part of the contest. If this goes well in ratings, they (you think CBS, NBC, or ABC would do this first?) will create tickling game shows, magic shows, ..we will see tickling written into sitcoms. I am sure they will create something called "Baywatch: Tickling at Daytona" (this is an exageration, but a cool one). Once tickling becomes commercialized, it will become bastardized.
Tickling will then become a commodity, something that various institutions and powers can use for there own benefit. The way religion uses suppression of sex for it's own gain, the way business uses sex to sell, the way moralists use sex to push there own hidden agenda, tickling will lose some of it's lustre. Now tickling isn't at the same level as sex, but it just magnifies a point. Once it becomes codified as a sexual turn on (Catherine the Great of Russia used to have her feet tickled before sex because it heightened the experience) like kissing, women may use it as a bargaining point.
Like this summer I was at a festival and I tickled the feet of several women (one even told me she enjoyed it). It wasn't a big deal, because it was considered just being playful, not a "wow he is getting turned on and he didn't earn it from me" kind of thing. If I had tried to kiss any of these women it would have been see as much more serious, and I may have earned a slap in the face (especially from the married ones). You see, there are advantages to being covert .....
The good thing though is that once it becomes more out in the open, more women will be likely to express there sexual turn ons. Women have been sexually repressed for many years in part because of the male ego (god forbid if a women actually became sexually adventerous or even "promiscious"). It is preposterous to think that the ratio of men foot ticklers to female ticklees is so out of wack, I mean was god (or that "higher being whom we revere) that incompetent? For every man that wants to tickle a female foot there must be a willing female to participate. Women don't expand that envelope because they have been conditioned to think that sexuality is not noble enough for them. By expanding a woman's sexual envelope, more will come to the conclusion that tickling is another way to express and enjoy themselves. They won't be limited and thus miserable by the sexual choices allowed for them. Catherine the Great was the exception not the rule.
So the point is that with tickling getting yet another push for acceptance, there will be a cost to it. The fun, free tickling we had as a child will not be the reality that will result from broad popularity.
As a side note, what would be really cool though is if we had local tickle clubs where a guy or gal could go there every weekend and have a fun time with a different ticklers/lees. What a stress reliever!! Hell, who would get married? Now religious folk won't like that . But then again, maybe it will get approved by the Roman Catholic Church. Yeah sure..
You heard it from me first. Feather on...
