Not sure if you've heard but there's a pretty fucked up thing going on in west Australia right now. In a complete over reaction to recent shark attacks the government has decide it would be a great idea to go out a kill a few thousand of them.
Now, obviously when someone gets attacked by a shark it's not nice but the truth is these attacks are rarely fatal and in any case they are sporadic at best. I like to scuba dive. I did it a fair bit over there. I knew every time I got in the water what the risks were and was totally willing to take that risk. I know full well if I get attacked by anything it's my own fault. Any surfer or snorkeler would tell you the same.
This is completely wrong and is compounding the tragedy of the thousands of sharks ALREADY being killed every year by fishing vessels.
So...what can we do? Well, for a start look at this thing:
http://www.marineconservation.org.au/petitions.php/9/save-wa-sharks-stop-the-cull
This is one of a few petitions going around. I think greenpeace have a biggy too so just google it.
Anyway do the right thing ladies and gents. Thanks for listening 😉
