In Manhattan, streets run east/west and avenues run north/south.

The street sign below, and others like it, are on several streets in midtown Manhattan between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue. I find them very funny in that there is no avenue there, none at all. 😛

On the north side of 54[sup]th[/sup] Street, there is no pedestrian walkway. There is instead a small parking lot. 😀

From the shape of the parking lot, it may have once been a walkway, but it has been converted to a parking lot. 😛
