Tired of 100-plus degrees of nightmare summer misery? Here's just the thing to bring down the temperature... Pokemon playfulness, set to lapping waves! Misty cavorts with a herd of Horsea, receiving a bit of incidental tickling along the way (**/F, foot and underarm).

Below is the accompanying Horsea poem, which contains no tickling content. As always, it serves simply as an extra:

The Way of Old Glory

Proudly to the field of honor!
Sound the drums! Here he comes!
(His opponent’s a sure goner!)
Knight and steed in one!
Gallant Horsea takes his station,
Bold and strong; won’t take long.
Foes look up in consternation;
Now begins the fun!

His lance is a blast of water,
Cool and sweet. What a treat!
Though it makes his targets totter,
They find it refreshing.
Charging at a measured gate,
He’ll outrun anyone.
He can’t falter in this state,
Horse and rider meshing.

Vanquishing a Gyarados!
Save Starmie! Set her free!
Valor is the life he chose.
To the rescue streakin’!
His, the way of chivalry:
Standing tall, helping all.
That’s the way a life should be!
He is glory’s beacon!

dude, this is sweet man, i wanna know something. Did u make the picture and the poem. Cause if u did then can u please make more of them. Sweet man i love it. keep up the good work.

If theres one thing I like about this picture inparticular its the way the Seadra is rubbing it's chin against her foot playfully. 🙂

Thanks for your enthusiasm, John shaft! Yes, I did create both the poem and the picture. The poems are actually a few years old (a bunch of my internet friends and I traded them back and forth in early 2001). There are dozens of the bloody things, and I'm using the best of them as the basis for this current series. I do indeed have several more combinations planned. Thanks for inquiring!

Thank you so much, Vlad! I'm trying for a variety of attitudes in these Pokemon pictures, and did want this one to come off as summertime innocent... to have sort of a vacation feel. I'm so happy that playful feeling was successfully conveyed!

That's so sweet of you, AphroditeRabbit! Thank you! It's so encouraging to receive kind words from talented artists on this forum. Believe me, it's deeply appreciated!

Gorgeous! As always your colors are spectacular. You really should get into book illustration, you know that?

Wow! Those are heady compliments, ness. Interestingly, my brother recently suggested something very similar. I don't know that my abilities are up to such a challenge. I'm rather staid in my ways now, and tend to view artwork as a diverting pasttime. It would be foolish to ignore any possibilities, though. At any rate, your plaudits mean a great deal to me. Thank you!

Seriously...peruse the children's picture book section of your local mega-bookstore and you'll see what I mean. Your method produces vibrant, colorful pictures that would be ideal in story books. Reminds me a great deal of Chris VanAlsberg (sp?) (look at Jumanji, Garden of Abdul Gazazi, or the covers or the latest editions of the Narnia paperbacks) There is real potential there. 🙂

Children's books... that's something I never really thought about (amazing, considering the subject matter I'm often drawn to). You're right, though. My style is better suited to this artistic genre than others where whimsical stylization is less acceptable. I believe I will check out the children's section next time I'm in Barnes and Noble. Thanks, ness! It's an inspired notion!

Great pic, extra points because you used them crazy pokeman that the kids is talking about these days. Seriously though, good work.

That's kind of you, Blingman! Thank you! Happily, Pokemon are very basic, design-wise, and easy to draw. Throw an actual animal at me, and the results might be far different!

The pic has a gentle quality about it.
Thumbs up.

Kind of you to say so, K! That's just what I was going for! I often have trouble achieving such a mood. My style is more attuned to grotesque characters and savage action. The more practice I get with gentle themes, therefore, the better. Thank you!

I appreciate that, rajee! I greatly admire the cuter, more gentle style of others, and hope I'm starting to achieve some of the same myself. Thanks for the encouragement!

Mmm... another bump-worthy thread, lying around.

*BUMP!*

...

Good.

Thanks again, K! Wish I could figure out how to fix that title. It's supposed to read "Summertime Frolic", not "Froic". Damn typo! The titles are particularly unforgiving.

Well... there *is* a way.
You just need a complying mod.

There... let me help you a bit.

...

Let's see.

🙂

You're plain wonderful. 😉
And I am fairly serious about that.

Bless you both! That miss-spelling was bugging me to death! A million thanks, K and Mistress Val!
