As we gear up for the biggest sports contest on Earth (pause here for the inescapable "American Football sucks" response from Red 🙄 ), let's see what folks think about a few things...

First question: Of the three states sending two teams to the playoffs, which has the greatest chance of making it an interstate Superbowl?

Giants/Jets

Niners/Raiders

Eagles/Steelers

Don't forget to pick in the poll...

that was actually a tough question. 2 out of the 3 choices, there is a team that may not make it to the big show, while the other state-member has a great chance.

1) Jets/Giants- neither will make it. true, they played inspired ball this past weekend, but c'mon, do you really see either one of them in the Super Bowl?

2) 49ers/Raiders- Raiders are a big favorite to make the Superbowl, while the 49ers (my favorite team by the way) have to go through Green Bay, Tampa or Philly to do it.

3) Eagles/Steelers- again, Philly has a great chance, and the Steelers are really skating by.

overall, there is no huge favorite to win it all. if the recent pattern continues of teams from out of nowhere win the Superbowl, it will probably be the damn Atlanta Falcons to win. Michael Vick is THE man. that is not my prediction for the Falcons to win, but watch them end up doing it.....

Nice poll, Dave! I pretty much agree with Primetime and picked SF-Oakland, just because they represent my state. 😀

I agree with your PrimeTime, but I don't think the Atlanta Falcons are going to end up doing it! Thats my humble opinion🙂

The Jets and Giants are both playing good football going into the playoffs, but they both have to win 3 games to get to the Super Bowl (3 on the road for the Giants unless they play Atlanta in the conference championship), and that's not very likely.

This Oakland team doesn't seem to have good playoff fortune, so I'm betting they don't make it pass the AFC conference championship, and 49ers could easily lose to NY in the wild card game.

Eagles just have to win 2 games at home, and if Maddox stays healthy, he can easily carry Pittsburgh to the bowl game. However, the game against Cleveland could be close, and it's very difficult to win 3 close games against the same team in one season.

Of the 3 scenarios, I think the Eagles/Steelers matchup is most likely.

the Superbowl will be intersting this year, and if it does feature two teams from the same state, i think it will be 49ers/Raiders. although the 49ers played like crap against the Rams, they should still be ready for the Giants. that matchup is going to be good. both teams played well against each other in week 1, so this playoff game is huge. then if the 49ers win, they have to go to Philly, unless Atlanta beats Green Bay, then the 49ers go to Tampa Bay. either way, they have to face some damn good defenses.

as for the Raiders, they get to sit back and wait for their opponent. i am praying though that they choke. ever since they left Los Angeles, i cant stand them. but i have to admit they have a real good team this year and are playing really well. they won 7 out of their last 8 games, have home field advantage, and full of confidence. BUT, i hope they perform like how they performed in LA. in other words, CHOKE.

the Eagles are good, but their offense is well, bland. without McNabb they arent really good. AJ Feeley? he will not lead them to the promised land.

the Steelers feature one of my favorite coaches, Bill Cowher, but they have been skating by the last few weeks. it should be interesting.

yeah, California has the best chance to matchup the same teams in the Superbowl, but again, with the way the last few Superbowls have went, a team like Atlanta or the Indianapolis Colts will take it all, scary thought huh?

I can tell you know a lot more about this than I do, Primetime. 😀 Personally, I don't care who wins the Super Bowl, as long as it's not a blowout by halftime. 😛

Personally, I think the Niners/Raiders match-up has the most chance to happen out of the three.

As for Wild-Card teams getting inspired in the playoffs...see the next question. 😎

Giants/Jets

They really aren't NY teams, more Jersey since they play there, imo. Buffalo is the only true NY based team, and as I predicted they had a crappy up and down season and were playing bridesmaid to all the rest of the divisions playoff hopes. Maybe next year..Q
