Greetings all,

When I illustrate a story I generate sketches and
drawings that I end up not useing for one reason
or another. This piece was done for a story in
"Tickling Fiction Illustrated#6" for which I also
did the cover. It is very different from the illustration
that was published, but I liked it and asked
Morandalis if he minded my posting it. He thought it
was a great idea, so here it is. Hope you like it.

Too bad this wasn't published, as it's quite effective in its shadowy, foreboding portrait of a modern torture chamber (actually, it's hard to say if the girl is suffering or enjoying the treatment!) Glad we have a chance to see it now, though. Thanks Corwin!

I like the way the old woman in the background has that sour look on her face. Almost as if she's thinking "You filthy old fetishist!"

look at it this way, LBH...if it had been published it would not be posted right now. This is fantastic work, thank you for sharing!

Its always nice to see what could have been, or in this case, was but never seen. Thanks for sharing it.

Excellent artwork, thanks for sharing it. You are an extremely talented artist and I hope you will be kind enough to post more of your artwork via this forum soon.

That's exactly right Ness. The one that was published is superior to this one in the sense that it conforms to the scene illustrated better and is finished with more polish. Not to mention this one is free! Thanks for your response everyone, I'll have more for you soon.

Corwin, I love your style!

Just looking at the pic, I ask myself, how did she come to end up there? What has she done to earn that punishment? How often has she had to endure this fate? As well as a few more questions.

Thanks, nstklr
The story this illustrated is a good one and can be found
in "Tickling Fiction Illustrated"#6. It's called "Maestro
Mannheim's Method". BTW I still have a couple thumbnail
sketches for your "Galen" tale. When I have time I'm going to
develop them and post the result.

Question

CorwinFT - How do you create such wonderful pieces of artwork? Is it originally a freehand drawing brought into Corel for coloring, or is it all done with Corel?! If possible, would you kindly provide us with some detail as to how you go about doing what you do? (I just downloaded Corel IX for a 30 day evaluation and would like to attempt what you are doing). Thanks so much for your time and talent. Hammer

Published pic ended up being even better than the preliminary sketch.
Amazing "feet"... [pun intended].

This goes to show art is no kids' game.

Thanks Kalamos. Hammer, the fact is I do both. I use Corel
Painter Essentials 2, a program that came bundled in my
Wacom tablet. Being old school I still think and compose
a lot with good ol' pencil and paper. When I use the tablet
and flip the stylus to erase I still brush off imaginary eraser
bits from the drawing surface!
If I do a compositional sketch on paper I scan it , import it,
refine it. Like this.(See attachments)

Thanks!

CorwinFT - Thank you very much for responding. I thought you did much of your work freehand, but the again I wasn't quite sure. Now I have insight and a goal. Thanks once more. Hammer

That's interesting. Insights into an artist's mind.

Hi again Corwin.......

Thanks for letting me know where I can read about this particular story. Unfortunatly, for me anyway, getting publications like these past Canada Customs is touchy as I have already discussed in another post in the Theater.

And as far as the sketches for my "Galen" story, I'm looking forward to seeing your version of my characters. But do so at your convenience please. I'm sure you have more pressing items to occupy you. But thanks for remembering.

This is a wonderfull drawing. Just lookin at it already gets my imagenation started. :weird: *The lunch lady brings the pretty school girl to the principals office for starting a food fight, where the principal chooses his most favorable punishment...* 😎
