Ross took the flight to OKC, trying to doze, and trying to focus on his three to four day trip to OKC, while knowing that he had to leave his troubles in New York behind.
Fritz and Steve met Ross at the airport, as they had to go out to the field that day, and meet twenty five to fifty new potential investors.
The plan was, meeting four days of investors, anywhere from one hundred to two hundred, and see where it all fell into place.
When Fritz greeted Ross and shook his hand, and placed Ross's cases in the back of the SUV. Fritz quipped.
"You look terrible. I dont have to guess, a man named Timothy Patrick. "
"Just working on some things. One problem is fixed, the other might take some time, and that's all I can say, manager/client confidentially, just like I dont tell Tim what we do down here" Ross said.
"Point taken, and subject dropped, so how is the teacher?" Fritz asked.
"Just fine, sir, and how is your lovely family?" Ross asked.,
"Wonderful, thanks" Fritz said.
Ross, Fritz and Steve got to the field, and they were pleasantly surprised to find seventy five, to one hundred potential investors waiting.
"What is all this?" Fritz said with a grin.
"Word of mouth, sir" the foreman said.
"Depending on how many of these folks sign, you will be getting a nice bonus" Fritz whispered to the foreman.
:Thank You, sir" The foreman said.
A bus, which had been rented, took Fritz, Steve, Ross, the foreman, and the potential investors out to the fields.
After the show and tell of the fields themselves, and the specific financial explanations by Ross , Fritz and Steve, a whopping fifty people said "Where do I sign?"
Ross said. "Our office is in OKC. Minimum investment is usually one hundred thousand. I will send you the contract explanations, and such. Fill in the amount you want , send it back to our office in OKC, and we will process it. Thank You for attending this show, and for investing with us. You will be happy you did" Ross said.
After Ross, Fritz and Steve had dropped the investors off, they went back to the office.
"Well, that went swimmingly , as they like to say" Ross said, taking an iced tea from the fridge and tossing one each to Fritz and Steve.
"New York Boy,. I dont want to sound like Miss Kayley, but considering how you look, I would hope that we do two more shows, and two nights from now, you are on the plane back to New York" Fritz said.
"Mister P, no offense sir, but, you are beginning to sound like Miss Kayley" Ross said pointed but respectful.
Then Ross continued. "Fritz, we both know that if I stay down here, I not only get to do shows, but I also get to work with my favorite business partners in any project I do, no BS there, and I get away from the craze of everything. If I go home, I will either be on the phone in the apartment or running into the office dealing with you know who and you know what. Better I'm here. I can go home the third night. Kayley knows this trip might be up to four days, and she is fine with it" Ross said.
"Okkaay. Then I guess, one hundred investors each the next two days. However many the third day, early, so you can make the last flight home" Fritz said.
"That sounds just fine" Ross said with a grin.
After Fritz, Ross and Steve had dinner, they took Ross back to the hotel, where Ross checked in, undressed, showered, and called Kayley.
"So how were the fields?" Kayley asked.
"Fine. We have reason to believe at least fifty people signed. I did not even call RossShell today. Victor would have called me if it was anything major, and I do not want to talk to Mister You Know Who for a few days, so hopefully I can just do this time, and come home to you" Ross said.
"I'm here and waiting when you come home, I love you"
"Love you too, teacher, going out to the field early tomorrow, so we will talk tomorrow afternoon or night" Ross said.
The next two days, one hundred investors each were taken to the fields, with about a third to fifty percent agreeing to sign.
So, in total about one hundred fifty to two hundred investors seemed to be "snared on this trip"
Fritz and Steve were wary of the fourth day, so they decided to postpone it.
"Buddy, we had a very solid trip. You look exhausted, so please go home tonight. You can always come back in two to three weeks. I know that you have very unpleasant things to do when you get home" Fritz said.
Ross sighed. "Yes, three days does seem like enough. I dont know how bad it will be when I get back to the office, and I wont know until two days from now, because I never go into the office the day after I come home from here. No one will know I'm home except you and Kayley Okay, will go" Ross said.
Ross called Kayley. "Babe,. I'm making the last flight home tonight. We are not going to do the fourth day. Mister P says I'm too beat, and wants me to come home" Ross said.
"That sounds like a good idea. Teacher will be waiting when you are" Kayley said.
Ross took the midnight flight home, landed in JFK at 6 am, and got home at 7.
Ross threw off his clothes, got into bed, and held Kayley.
At 10 am. Ross's phone rang. It was Alan Hell.
"Alan, hi, just got back from OKC, home today, let me take this in the den" Ross said getting out of bed.
"Its okay, my friend. Wanted to give you some surprise news. Those investors you showed and sold the fields to were not even directly from me. I was having cocktails one night, and I showed a friend of mine the money the investors I'[ve already gotten you are projected to receive. He suggested that with you already having so much work from me, you would not be able to have time for him, so he asked to slip people from his firm in there, and those are your new investors. I still have, thousands of people for you" Alan said with a gleeful voice.
"Alan, My God. Thank You. Ah, please give me your friend's name. I should call him"
"Oh, A FEDEX package is on its way to your office with his name, address, number, names of all the lawyers in his firms, etc. I told you that knowing me was going to be very profitable for you. How about you take me to lunch tomorrow as a thanks" Alan ribbed.
"Anytime , anywhere" Ross said.
"Shun Lee, 1230, see you then" Alan said.
Ross walked back to the bedroom in shock.
"Ross, wasnt that Alan Hell?" Kayley asked.
"Yes, it was, but something is a shocker Those people we showed the fields to this week were not part of Alan Hell's firm. Alan surprised me by showing all of the financial info to a friend of his who has a slightly smaller law firm. Alan said he knew that we could not fit his friend in with doing all the work we do for him, so Alan 's surprise was to book all of the lawyers from his friend's firm into what we thought were Alan's field spots, and then continue with Alan. Kale, this is going to be a monster, and we have not even drilled the fields in Canada because I have not had the time to go up and meet with John Fish yet, and we cant figure out how to do Alaska. I guess I really am an oil man now, and RossShell may be a thing of the past" Ross said, which was the first time Kayley had ever heard Ross say that.
"Ross, are you thinking of telling Tim to go fuck himself, and selling or closing RossShell?" Kayley asked truthfully.
Ross sighed. "Honey, please . That is not a fair question to ask me with how these last four days have been and then what Alan just told me. I have a lot of thinking to do. Part of me is thinking that if Tim does not get his act together, I take a break from him like I did with Roy White and Bruce Reese that time, and then see" Ross said.
"White and Reese got the message., Now they are just nice secondary clients for RossShell who your staff does the work for, and you sign off on, you hardly see them, and still make money from them" Kayley said.
"The Ross Midas Touch" Ross said.
Ross sat down on the bed, and was stunned.
Alan Hell was proving to be a monumental Gold Mine for Ross, not to mention what would happen when Ross , Fritz, Steve, and John drilled on the fields in Alaska and Canada.
Were Tim Patrick and RossShell really a thing of the past, or was it just Tim that needed to go?
Those things would be seen.
Fritz and Steve met Ross at the airport, as they had to go out to the field that day, and meet twenty five to fifty new potential investors.
