Do you plan on getting one? I understand the vaccine will not be available until October. I'm undecided, being in pretty good health over all. I do however come in close contact with hundreds of people every week due to my job. Given that maybe i should get one.

I have never gotten a flu shot in my life but will when the swine flu vaccination comes out....I dont know about the other...not putting much credence in it's effectiveness this year....

We began giving shots at the clinic in my store this week bt folks that think this will protect them from the real deal coming are misinformed....the h1n1 is gonna smack us arond a lot....

LMAO @ flu shots!!!

Never had a silly shot to prevent the flu; never had the flu.

I see a lot of people, like herds of sheep, ready to obtain their annual flu shot. Those are the same people who are sick 5 times a year and carry the flu into populated areas.

BTW..The swine flu is a joke. I am sure that if you give any flu the name of an animal, it would appear to be more deadly. The truth is, thousands of people die from the flu each year. Eat right, exercise, and supplement your immune system; fuck government controlled drugs and immunizations.

I have always thought the same my friend and never gotten the shot....still wont get a regular flu shot.....but the swine flu is no joke and many more will get it and die from it than any flu in years...you dont need to get a shot to protect yourself....just hhole up isolated from everyone for about 4 months...

But remember it isnt just you that you have to worry about...if you contract it you can give it to those you love who may be a tad more vulnerable...and the consequences can be devastating...

News just reported 2000 cases at WSU in the first 2 weeks of school....

Fuckin swine flu

right at the height of the panic, i got really sick. eventually the people i work with told me i should see a doctor. obviously i couldn't get an appointment in the city for like 3 months because everyone's goin insane about this crap. so i go to urgent care and get looked at by some woman who may or may not have a medical license. she says they don't have the resources to actually treat me for swine flu, so they're just gonna treat me for it and if i'm not better in 5 days to go to the hospital.

so i go to the pharmacy with the Rx, and they more or less laugh in my face and say the whole city is out of tamiflu. ummmm ok, so i just lie in bed and feel better in a few days, but i wasn't permitted back to work for the whole 5 because everyone's so terrified of this thing.

no, no swine flu shot. BRING IT ON!!!

I'll consider it. I work in a school with germy, germy kids.

^ don't have the resources to *test* me for swine-flu, so they're just gonna treat me for it

Yes, I'll get the shot when it's available. Very little risk, great possible benefit.

I'm a health care worker, so there really isn't a choice in the matter. However, Health Canada will be providing the H1N1 shots free of charge to all Canadians, with provisions for traveling immunization clinics if needed. So there really isn't any excuse for Canadians not to get the shot.

Swine, rat, same difference:

Lifting weights three or four times a week will not prevent the swine flu.:ermm: Why take a chance on endangering yourself or your family???

No.
Unless your company is paying for it and you just want a little time off to get the shot, don't bother. The strain they're immunizing you against is the OLD one and it won't help you amongst the most recent strain.

Wash your hands, A LOT, try and avoid being around the sick, take your vitamins, get your sleep, concentrate on building up your immune system.
XOXO

I'm pretty much required to get it through work. So I will get the regular shot in a week or two then the swine flu shot when it becomes availiable.

Don't forget kidz~it's a TWO step process~you get to get "shot" twice.
XOXO

FYI - I lift 5 times a week.

I never get sick, so my family will never contract a cold from me. My wife has only been sick once since we have been together. I just don't see this happening. You can get the shot, if you like...I won't hate you.

No worries, I don't die...I multiply.

They are not immunizing for swine as of yet as far as I know and that is what buggy was asking...

Your lack of hatred is much appreciated.:headpat:

This has nothing to do with the swine flu, but I live a healthy lifestyle myself with diet and working out five days a week at a gym. Last November, a nasty head cold quickly turned into pneumonia. My doctor strongly urged me to get a yearly flu shot. I`ve never had one in my life. After recovering from the pneumonia I made the decision to get one and perhaps it was a coincidence, but I didn`t have even a sniffle the rest of the winter. So I plan on getting the regular flu shot, and the swine flu shot when it becomes available.

I'm allergic to raw eggs. Until they learn or opt to make a flu shot without those, I won't be getting immunized. Period.

Because of my asthma, it's recommended I get the parainfluenza shot. I don't bother.

And I think Ray's point was that you can resist the infection but be a carrier and spread germs to your family, co-workers, and loved ones. Like cats can carry ringworm but may not contract it - they sure can spread it though!

I'm a healthy guy. I eat right and I do *enough* exercise.
But if you put 30,000 students together on a campus, the odds are that something's gonna spread.
Since I started university I've had the seasonal flu each year I've forgotten to have the jab. When I have the jab, I don't get the flu.
I've already had swine flu once, and don't intend to pick it up again. It was a fairly miserable couple of weeks.

Off topic, but related: When I was at NEST I saw an infomercial about how vaccinations are actually the governments way of keeping you sheep under control so they can establish the new world order. Seriously, guys?

I'm definitely going to get it, even though I'd rather bang my head against the wall for an hour than having to get a shot.
Been through getting tested for swine flu and it's the most awkward test I've ever been put through *shivers*

Someone give this guy the HIV so he stops bragging about his awesome immune system. :snoopy:

I vote "no" for me. I've gotten the flu shot a few times over my adult life and every single time I got sick. So over the last few years, I've just decided to not get it and haven't been sick yet. I'm really kind of sick and tired of the whole Swine Flu thing. I get it, I get it. I don't, I don't. Just like any other flu during flu season. It happens every year. Now just like with the regular flu vaccine, if you are a person who is "at risk," by all means, go and get one if you want to. Or hell, go and get one if you just want to get one. Just saying for me, I'm not. I did just read that the strain that they're vaccinating against is the strain from last year and this concerns me because usually with the flu, the virus mutates and therefore becomes a new strain. Crazy stuff.

Oh yeah totally, I've always wanted to be a guinea pig. (That's sarcasm if you haven't noticed.) I may let all you get it first and let me know what happens, I have been sick maybe 5 times in my life.. and those where all colds. Never had the flu, never had pneumonia, I hardly take medicine.. the last thing I'll do is inject myself with a virus to immunize myself against it.. especially while pregnant. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I much rather sit in my house and have no life.
