Stands for: Not Suitable For Work

Should we be using these???

OK, for example, you're at work and you open a (joke) thread and you get DickRolled. It's a link to a porn site or something! Or maybe the inescapable RickRoll , restart, lost time, and lost documents.

Your IT department goes ballistic and you're in deep shit; or worse, you lose your job.

Now the joke's on you. Funny, huh?:ignite:

Joke, or no joke...none of us really wants to see that happen, right?!

I can hear the counter arguments already:
"If you're at work, you shouldn't be on here anyway...blah blah blah."
"It gives away the joke if you tag it ... yadda yadda yadda."

I'm just throwing this out there.
It might cut down on the flaming and bad feelings, and maybe even save someone's job or an embarrassing situation.

Thoughts ???

Bah, if you're at work then you shouldn't be on here anyway, and it gives away the joke and stops it from being hilarious for the hundredth time! NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP RICK!

But seriously, it's a good idea I'd think. I know many sites do a similar thing, and have come out better for it. Of course, there will be those who won't think of it or anything, but yeah.

Good idea. 🙂

Though if it was to be implemented properly, we would need some sort of concensus as to what is NSFW and what is not. Some things will be blindingly obvious, obviously, but there will be some grey area.

Not to support the RickRolls but isn't this entire site really not safe for work? Looking at some of the advertisements on the sidebar I'd say the images qualify. Sure, it isn't straight-up "stick it in her and do the horizontal monster mash" pornography but this forum really isn't what I'd consider "IT approved" for work browsing. 😀

All good points of course. But then some things are safer than others. A large dick rolling around would look a bit worse I would imagine than a little window of a woman being tickled. But then I dunno, I would never get on at work.

Yeah, I guess you have something there, but the only thing I see on the left that's questionable is the "WebCam Girls" for nudity. At first glance the TMF doesn't appear to be a hardcore porn site.

Forget work for a minute, how about the members that would like to be spared a dick-in-your-face? Or a crashed browser?

I know it would be tough to enforce, but maybe tag it as a courtesy to others?

Or is that asking way too much??? 😕

Thing is, putting a NSFW notice on a thread would ultimately wise everyone up to the fact that the post was a hilarious prank involving a giant dick or Rick Astley, thereby reducing the likelyhood that anyone will fall for said prank.

Oh wait...:manicd:

Not exactly on topic, but a 14 year veteran of the Austin Fire Department lost his job last week for just that reason. Not the TMF,just sites he should not have been looking at on city owned computers.Keep it at home and you don't have so much to worry about.

I'm the IT department. You can very well lose your job for coming to this site as you could for an "accidental" dickroll. There is a ton of sexual related material here that would qualify this place as "inappropriate" for work. I personally think rickrolling is funny as hell when someone gets one off on me, but like you HATE the one that locks up your machine. Regardless though, you should have learned to save your work back in college before you go on to anything else. A machine restart does not piss IT off. Restart your machine 50 times a day for all they care, as long as you don't bother them about it. 😛

So while I think the tags are useful on emails, so that you don't accidentally open bad stuff at work, I don't think they are needed here as you should not be visiting this site at work. I know you didn't want to hear that, but it's the truth and should not be ignored. Besides, the web address, name, and frequency of visits is what flags sights for us, not some magical markers saying "yes this is inappropriate" or "yes this is safe". I do appreciate you looking out for people though Nos. :smilestar

What he said...

Every thread posted here would have to be tagged...lol..A huge waste of time..

Ok, so it's anything goes?! Is that what we want here?

Again, forget work; I'm not asking that everything be tagged, just the dick-in-your- face/browser crasher prank that some members don't want any part of. As a courtesy, like labling posts F/M or something.

I guess it is asking too much.

Ruins the joke, just like I predicted in my first post.

Just my opinion but I do think there are some cases where things should be tagged. Now of course who determines what those are and how those posts will be dealt with if they are not tagged is a whole different kettle of fish.
Every time a new "rule" is made there comes along with that people who have to use their already limited time moderating to deal with another issue that we as members can pretty much take care of on our own.

Tagging every single thread that one person finds unfunny or a trick will be time consuming. Not to mention, just because one person does not find a trick/joke funny, is no reason to keep those that like a good joke/trick/prank once in a while.

However, if there is a prank/joke/trick that causes your computer to lock-up/freeze where you have to reboot and such..that is a post I would warn others not to click on by posting in that thread or even PM the member (perhaps they did not know it would do that to your system) or PM a MOD about it. I certainly know I would be a little miffed if I click on something and it locked up my system and I would certainly PM the member and a MOD.

LOL..

Kinda like..

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK IT IS A RICKROLL.. BUT IF THAT DOESNT MATTER TO YOU THEN CLICK AND TRY TO ACT OFFENDED.. OK?!

We are all in total agreement on this....and no one is posting those browser beaters to my knowledge....

Jokes aside all threads with questionable content would have to be tagged NSFW....as most are not..I dont know where people work that they would even want the front page loading up...I wouldnt...

So if you are going to tag what suits you Nostro then you will have to tag what is offensive to everyone else... and thus everything here would end up tagged....

Might I suggest that those threads of known jokesters be avoided by those who do not wish to fall prey.....? or that links within them are not clicked?

a tad easier than taggging all threads that might offend someone....😉

When you open www.ticklingforum.com in your browser, you are greeted with the following:

"The TMF does not provide content, only an open forum for the sharing of it. Thus, the forum's content is totally contributed by its members. Some of this material may be of an adult nature. Due to this fact, you must be at least 18 to enter. If you are, then click upon the "Enter Forums" link below and come on in! If you are under 18, I'm afraid you have to leave. Perhaps you might find this information useful."

That's like a great big "NSFW" warning for the entire forum. I'm pretty sure that accessing anything on the forum from work, even an innocent post about fuzzy vorpal bunnies, would be frowned upon by the little spies in the IT department. Some of the other forums I frequent go the NSFW route on adult/dirty threads, or just ban those types of threads altogether. The difference is that those forums are generally geared towards mundane, work-acceptable topics.

I'm suggesting that posters police themselves, and tag out of courtesy.

No Rules. No punishment. No tagging by anyone but the OP.
God knows I'm not gonna comb thru every post tagging my ass off.

What you have suggested is probably the best solution though, avoid certain users that are known offenders. I was trying to get around that, but...if that's what it takes.

Here's a radical idea, post "jokes" like that in the Silly Stuff Forum.
Let's not kid ourselves, that where it really belongs.

Why is in GD to begin with?
Seriously?!
Because more people read the GD forums?
Making the prank more successful ???

That's really lame.

It's like walking through a field of land mines.

A line should be drawn somewhere, 'cause it's gettin' ugly.

I see what you are getting at, and it has been getting ugly, but those that enjoy such uglyness will continue it. Y'know, feeding upon drama here like it's a soap, etc.

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our TMF"

So the best we can do are ignore the childish antics of such. 😉

and I see everyone harping on a non issue as no one is posting that stuff any more as there are valid reasons not to....not because someone got fooled and whined......so there is no point to make..

Anyone who is unprofessional enough to open this or any other non work related site while at work ought not to have a job...

Personally speaking I would fire any employee of mine whos urfed the net while I am paying them to work....you reap what you sow so like yeah....

and if you really have a problem with a thread or a post report it... The mods will delete or move anything they feel should be so....again like yeah...

(or we can start yet another rant thread...that will work wonders)ROFLMAO

The drama being a non-issue? The fact that people are making threads about it disagrees there. Even if the rickrolling is gone, it's scars remain. And there are still other things lingering...

Yeah, personally speaking. But not all employers have the same standard for such. But admittedly, for most it would probably be considered unprofessional.

I truly apologize if I "scarred" you in any way Ex, I truly did not mean to do that...I did not know that a RR thread could wound so deep, so I am sorry,,,

As for the other....Not just some employers but ALL employers who do not wish to risk lawsuits forbis their employees from visiting fetish and porn sites from company computers...ask your boss....I am sure he will fill you i n on policy.....:veryhappy

Looking at this web site at work is like listening to a Tenacious D CD or reading Playboy at work.
