Hello, hello.

I was wondering what talents people most envy in others. Things that make you go, “I wanna do that! Why can’t I do that! The talented bastard/bitch!” lol

Or maybe it’s not a talent per se but a quality, some personality trait that you wished you possessed…?

Cheeyers! 🙂

I wish that I could sing well, but I have no talent whatsoever in that direction. 🙁

I cannot draw or paint, I'm practically a stick-figures kinda guy. I also can't whistle. I'd rather be able to whistle than draw, I'm so envious of people who can whistle, and whistle well.

LOL! Of all the things you mentioned, I also wish to have the skill to whistle, but I really can't produce the right consistent sound! My mom can whistle complex tunes, and take note --with vibrato!!!! I won't be able to do it in my lifetime to save my life. So I forgot about the whole thing for a long while until you posted about it. 😀

As someone who struggles with writing and composing music, I feel envious of those who write really strong and powerful music.

Drawing. Oh my frigging god, I wish I could draw better than I do already! Like, okay, I get compliments on my artwork, and that's always nice, but I could be soooooo much better, and I wish I was as good as some of the greats! I wanna be able to draw comics like Frank Miller, or fetishy art as good as those highly-fappable pieces done by Umojar and CAB... ;w;

Man, I hear you. My late brother got all the artistic ability in the family gene pool. Now about whistling, I can't do that either. The whistler on the Andy Griffith Show was a guy named Earle Hagen. He visited my school when I was in fourth grade, put on a little show for us. I don't remember anything about it other than him whistling that tune.

Dean Martin

Ah, good choice!

To answer my own question, I think I envy creative people generally! But these days it’s writers more than anyone. Writers of fiction. Not all of them, obviously, just the good ones lol. More specifically, I think it’s the talent of storytelling. The ability to pluck stuff from yer subconscious mind and turn it into an engaging story. I get the impression that the technical side of writing (of writing well, obviously) can be learned through practice, but I’m not so sure about storytelling. But maybe that’s the case with all good art; that it’s the product of a balancing act between the creative and the analytical parts of the brain…? I dunno. I may be talking shite at this point! lol

I love people that can:

-Play instruments
-Sing
-Speak 2 or more different languages
- Work in an animation studio
- Puppeteering (Like The Muppets)
-Clay Animators/Slow Motion
- DJ's who REALLY know their craft
-Being a Mixologist (drinks)
-Strippers who really know how to dance/ Dancers in general
-Rappers
-Lawyers/Doctors/Nurses/Police/Military. (the amount of studying, memory, strength, Bravery etc- all of that - they have SO much respect from me.
-Motorcycle Riders - I've driven my own motorcycle way back- but theres something about going around a curve that I can't really grasp. Uh!! (I still have hope- even if its just a dirt bike- I love the feel of flying- not a speed junkie though)

🙂

I'd love to learn all of these things_ If I learn 3-4 I'll be happy 🙂 (Except for rapping. I've heard myself now and... nooooo... lol

Ah, your mom, that's awesome. WITH vibrato. It's a marvel to me.

I'm a musician and I sing lead alot, and I want nothing more than to break into whistling in the middle of song, like Otis in "Dock Of The Bay" or something. Alas.....I think at this point I need to find a genie to help me do it!

What are your thoughts on Roger Whittaker? (Just thought I'd taunt you with this video lol.) 😀

I'm fucking jealous!!!

That is fantastic! Ha! Earle Hagen, look at you pulling that out! What are the chances? That's one of THE whistlin' tunes of all time!

John Lennon was a great whistler, it always kills when he whistles in the middle of "Jealous Guy". My grandfather was a great whistler also. Me, not so much.
