Hee. They look like presents waiting to be opened or something, with the bows and such.
Lots of different types of rope give a different experience, I find, though the best basic/comfy/cheapeset ones to use would be nylon-based rope. Twisted feels a bit stronger and keeps its shape better, so that's probably better for tying limbs together or something, but if you want more creative flexibility/softer feel, braided rope is where it's at. Also, twisted rope is easier to chafe skin (though the pattern they leave behind is pretty, so meh
😛 ), whereas braided moves a bit easier on skin, but slightly compromises restraint effectiveness. I guess my advice would be braided nylon for tickle-bondage, and twisted if you just wanna be tied up snuggly for a while.
🙂
A note on braided rope - "solid braid" feels a bit stronger/firmer than the others, and double/diamond braid are softer, but usually have a "core" of rope inside. If you find that this is the case, you can sometimes remove the inner core of material, which makes the outer rope a lot more flexible, but I think it'll break down easier as well, and can "tighten" easier on skin.
As for width, 3/8" or 1/4" seems the best for overall tying, with maybe 1/8" for smaller ties like for toes or fingers or hair or whatever. The rope in your picture looks a bit on the smaller side, so maybe a width larger than that may work better/feel better. If you'll be using the rope a lot in tickle sessions with your man, it's probably best that you plan out the desired lengths, wrap about an inch-in-width of electrical tape several times around that segment of rope, then cut the rope in the middle of the tape, so that each created "end" will be secured to prevent fraying. You can even use different colors of tape to designate different lengths of rope!
Try varying the lengths of rope you cut. If you end up buying a large roll or something, you can experiment with what lengths work best for what limbs/ties, but the general rule is to leave a little bit of extra length than intended, so that if you accidentally mistake the length, at least you'll have more to work with without having to untie everything.
Only go for jute rope (the Japanese stuff) if you're really into the feel of bondage. That stuff is amazing. No rope burn! :super_hap
I'm not a
huge expert on rope for bondage, though, so don't take my word for it - it's only from personal experience, and a bit of curious research.
😉
EDIT: Found
this helpful guide for general shibari/bondage, but can be applied to bondage for tickling as well, including making fast "cuffs" from the rope. Perfect for beds!
