Those who know a bit about Greek mythology, or at least have played the God of War saga, will know it’s not far-fetched to say that a large part of these myths revolves around the Olympian gods constantly messing with each other—often, in my opinion, at a maturity level akin to superpowered children.
Inspired specifically by the story of the throne that Hephaestus gifted to Hera—where she ended up trapped once she sat on it—here’s my own version of what might happen if Athena were to accept a gift from Aphrodite as a gesture to smooth things over. The gift? The ceding of one of Aphrodite’s temples, one where Athena herself would have a prominent place in a custom-made seat designed just for her. Oh, and Aphrodite would also throw in a group of devoted priestesses to serve her... exactly as Aphrodite thinks she deserves. Take that for Troy, Athena! 😈
Fun fact: Athena is considered the goddess of wisdom and military strategy, among other things, while Aphrodite, besides being the goddess of love, sensuality, and desire, was also Hephaestus’s wife… adding yet another layer of humiliation for Athena for not seeing the trap coming. 😁
