Greetings phriends! Due to unforseen circumstances, the TQWD feature has been on hiatus for a bit, but now we're back and rolling again, getting to know the pholks in our little community better.
For this installment, I had the opportunity to put our own Mistress Valerie in the hotseat. I was very impressed with the answers from our illustrious Admin, and I feel you will be too. 🙂

1) What are some of the positives and negatives of administering a social networking site, especially one dedicated to a niche fetish?
The positives are having a high degree of access to people and being able to help them, whether with account problems or personal matters. The chief negatives are having to refrain from expressing my views on controversial topics, in order to avoid any appearance of bias, and occasionally having to enforce the rules decisively when someone is acting up, which, fortunately, doesn't happen often.
2) Have you taken anything from your experiences working closely with TT into your own fetish life?
I have learned a lot about different forms of sexual expression and have been pleased to find that I am not alone in some of my more unusual interests. I feel much less guilt and unease than I used to about the fetish and have even come to like being a bit different from the mainstream.
3) In your opinion, how do you see the internet as being either a positive or negative force on our fetish lives?
I think it has been mostly a positive force, allowing people from different geographical areas to meet in a virtual space to share experiences and ideas while preserving a degree of anonymity and privacy. Nonetheless, some people have misused the Internet for dishonest purposes, and the easy availability of fetish sites online has sometimes riled up anti-sex or pro-censorship crusaders.
4) From one dominant to another, what makes tickling an important and effective "tool", if you will, as opposed to other practices?
I love tickling because it is a way to completely dominate a partner without any violence and with very little exertion. Just seeing the effect that I can have on the lee with one fingertip makes me feel sexy and powerful. Tickling is also a wonderful way to tease and delight the lee's senses as a buildup to vanilla sexual activity ;-)
5) Leaving tickling aside for a moment, let's see if we can find out a few things about Mistress Valerie we didn't know. What are a few of your favorite hobbies and/or interests completely disassociated with kink?
I have always been fascinated with politics, although for obvious reasons I rarely discuss political topics here. I'm also a recreational target shooter and gun enthusiast. I love to study languages and science, yet I also enjoy sports and am an avid fantasy and "sim" sports player. When I was younger I had been interested in a career in medicine or finance, two subjects I still keep up with.
6) You've inherited/won several million dollars with the stipulation that you give at least half of it to one charity or cause. Who gets the money?
Because of my own early experiences as a displaced person, it would be a humanitarian organization such as Doctors Without Borders or the International Red Cross.
7) Follow-up question. Another stipulation says that you have to purchase at least one selfish and overpriced thing for yourself. What do you buy?
It would be a high-end multimedia laptop with a high-speed wireless connection and an external hard drive I might also go for a decent stereo system.
8) If you had the choice of being either the world's leading authority on any one subject OR the world's greatest at any particular physical activity (professional sport, personal pursuit), which would it be and why?
I would want to be the world's leading authority in a medical field, such as cardiology, since I come from a family which has been plagued by heart disease.
9) You've been locked into a room for one month with all of the basics covered (food, water, clothing, etc.), and you can bring five items with you to pass the time. However, none can give you direct access to the outside world. What do you bring with you?
Assuming that I don't have to own the items already, I would select a music player pre-loaded with great 60's and 70's hits, a high-end computer with some video games, a set of meditation aids, a full-body exercise machine, and a collection of science books. I would use that time to write, study, and improve my physical and personal fitness in addition to getting some much-needed R & R.
10) And finally, the patented, low-calorie, gluten-free, slightly radioactive Question Ten. If you could invite any three people from any point in history to dinner for one night, who would they be and why?
I would invite Lao-Tzu, who was said to have been the wisest man who ever lived up to his time, to discuss the Tao Te Ching and how Taoist principles can be applied to the modern world. I would also invite past US presidents Eisenhower and Johnson, who were both closely associated with civil rights, the Cold War, and the Southeast Asian conflicts, to discuss their perspectives on that fascinating era during which I grew up.
