Smoten - End of the World As We Know It- and Avengers-five! 😉

*High fives Senshi while It's the End of the World As We Know It plays in the background*

Avengers freaking rocked! I was absolutely stoked when I first found out they got Joss Whedon to both write and direct it. He definitely didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to the next set of Marvel movies, especially Avengers 2 in 2015. It's too bad Spidey's movie rights belong to Columbia Pictures; I would have loved to see him in the next Avengers movie.

Agreed, and X-Men to Fox (Fox, right?) as well.

Actually, to stay on topic, I'll go ahead and add Iron Man 3 and X-Men First Class 2 (sue me) to my 2013 anticipation slot. 🙂

Yes, fox does own the rights to X-Men, but I kinda wish it was in other hands. I am however, looking forward to the new X-Men movie (X-Men: Days of Future Past) as well. Bryan Singer is back on board with the X-Men and he didn't do bad with the first 2 X-Men movies. I like to think of it as getting to see what X-Men might had been like had he not left for that stupid superman movie.

Oooh! While we're on topic of Marvel movies, I just realized something. Wesley Snipes gets out of prison next year... You think we might get a new Blade movie by 2016?

1. What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Did lighting and sound design for a community theatre production.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I generally don't make resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Well, my grandmother, but I hadn't seen her in a number of years. We weren't very close, but she was a sweet lady who lived a very full life (90+ years).

5. What countries did you visit?
Did not leave the good ol' U-S of A

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
The courage/drive to form my own voiceover company.

7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 6. It was my final day at the radio job where I'd been for 6.5 years. The days leading up to that day were wonderful, with listeners and co-workers alike calling in and stopping by to tell me how much I'd be missed.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Winning the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award for "Outstanding Radio Commercial" for a small market station.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I'll go with failing to keep working out after I left the job mentioned in #7.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing truly debilitating, but I did slice the ever-loving $h!7 out of my pointer finger on the cardboard packaging of a remote control helicopter on Christmas...

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Behringer 16-channel soundboard.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My beloved g/f, for finally deciding to stop taking most of her medication. As a pharma-phobe, I think today's drugs do more harm than good.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My father's, I think. The 24-hour news cycle has made him combative and unpleasant. He used to be an intelligent debater.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Insurance and car payments.

15.What made you really really really excited?
Getting cast in a series of local commercials for the arena-league football team in the area (and, subsequently, doing five separate shoots).

16.What song will forever remind you of 2012?
This is a question I can't answer now. In about five years, if there is such a song, I will know at that point. I don't listen to enough popular radio these days. If I had to venture a guess, Adele's "Skyfall" (as I will remember it was a 2012 release). The thing with me and music: lyrics don't speak to me, so I won't think, "Oh, the lyrics to ABC's "XYZ" totally remind me of when I was doing this in 2012 and feeling this way." If a song sounds good instrumentally, I'll like it. If the words are "deep" but the melody/backbeat is "meh," I won't like it.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? slightly happier
b) thinner or fatter? slightly fatter (refer to the "stopped working out" comment above)
c) richer or poorer? slightly richer

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
TV Commercials? Sit-ups/crunches? Tickled more young women's feet?

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Played Facebook games.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Should have taken this earlier, but the answer would have been the same - worked for a couple hours at the radio station broadcasting a live church service through our board, then spending time with my parents/grandparents/relatives.

21. How will you be spending New Year's?
This, I have less of an idea, but still a pretty firm one. Quiet night in with the g/f.

22. Did you fall in love in 2012?
I fall in love every time I see a pretty young lady. I've just learned not to act (too strongly) on it.

23. How many one-night stands?
Z E R O

24. What were your favorite TV programs?
I don't watch a lot of TV, so this doesn't really apply to me. I watched all two seasons of "Legend of the Seeker" on netflix (after reading most of the "Sword of Truth" series). Boy that was bad. But Bridget Regan is so nice to look at. Even Tabrett Bethel was growing on me (and I don't much care for Australian accents)

I also have re-watched almost five full seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. That show was way ahead of its time in many regards.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
It would take quite a bit to make me hate someone (like deliberately harming my family). Even politicians who say dumb $h!7...I don't hate THEM, though I may hate their ideas.

26. What was the best book you read?
Fiction: Probably "Temple of the Winds" in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.
Non-Fiction: "The Audacity of Hope"

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
If I'd have answered last year, it would have been the music of "Two Steps from Hell."
This year, I'd probably have to say, Phillip Wesley (even though he released Dark Night of the Soul in 2008). Seriously, youtube search for "racing against the sunset'.

28. What did you want and get?
That TV commercial gig.

29. What did you want and not get?
A copy of the un-aired fourth commercial.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Probably "The Avengers." But I think "The Dark Knight Rises" and "SkyFall" were the only two other films I went to see in the theatre.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Ate hibachi. And, I think, saw "The Avengers." I don't remember. I turned 35. That senility thing...

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Again, a tough question, because this year was pretty good. I truly want for nothing important. I was a local celebrity three times over (my small but loyal radio audience, being in those commercials, and leading pretty successful haunted tours). Asking for too much more would be flat-out greedy, and defeat the balance I seek in life (refer to my "mood" at left)

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Jeans, t-shirt, sneakers. All day, every day, every year, forever. (except when in bed. And maybe a hoodie when it's colder).

34. What kept you sane?
TickleTheater. 🙂 And who said I was sane?

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Anne Hathaway.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Trying to pay for two wars with cuts to public service and upper bracket taxes.

37. Who did you miss?
This may be terrible, but I don't find myself missing anyone to the point of distraction. Not just this year, but most of the time. My emotional well isn't very deep.

38. Who was the best new person(s) you met?
