If you had to pick one movie to set as the official mark for becoming a man, what would it be?

Example:
"You are not a man until you have seen_________" 😀

An Easy One!

Around my neigborhood:

"The GodFather Trilogy"

😎 😎 😎 😎 Q

Gawd....considering most of the men *I* associate with, I am gonna say any of the "Porky's" movies, "Animal House", or "Fast Times At Ridgemont High". Any one of those 'It's great to be a walking talking penis' movies! LMAO!😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Mimi

My choices would be:

Lethal Weapon 1 and 2
Die Hard 1 and 2
Sudden Impact - Clint Eastwood
Hard to Kill -Steven Seagal
Out For Justice -Steven Seagal

in no particular order

Drew

Too many to choose from...

Let's see....

Guns of Navarone --Gregory Peck

In Harm's Way --John Wayne

Along with The Dirty Dozen, Bridge on the River Kwai or just about any of the old classic war movies.......

oops.........looks like I hit 600 !!! Finally a master at SOMETHING!

You're not a real man until you've seen "Best Men" with Dean Cain and Andy Dick. Finally, a film that shows that guys actually give a shit about each other, and that women aren't the only ones who can pull a "Thelma and Louise" when your time comes. It's a little known film, but I hope you give it a view, it's really good.😎

Oops, almost forgot the ultimate "real mans movie":

The Bridges of Madison County

Drew

I would say The Wild Bunch or Cross of Iron Great movies from the mind of Sam Peckinpah I read that he had the opurtunity to direct the first Superman movie but did Cross Of Iron instead If anybody has never seen them I highly reccommened them They are violent though

Magnifasent 7

The manifasent 7 is a great guy flick, and it even had a good sequal.
It had fighting, male bonding (whitch is when guy beat up their friends) and a band of rebels with a cause. The acting was good, I just liked it.

Brave heart is cool, but I'm not big on the Patriot, or Pearl Harber. Reason being is that theas storys are to gung-ho American. I admire my yanky friends patriotism (it fuels my own in fact), but sometimes the movies distort some of the facts. Like the fact that the Jappaneas sent a declaration of war to the US before and some guy stuck it on a shelf (Because it wasn't marked urgent).

The best movie regarding Pearl Harbour is the classic Tora, Tora, Tora! It was done in the view of bothe nations so it's a slightly more honest depiction of the event leading up to the attack.

You are not a man until you have seen Die Hard.
And you havent lived until you've seen Braveheart.
Thats my philosophy 😛 😉 😀

Actually, though I agree with your point on the lack of accuracy in Pearl Harbor (Tora! Tora! Tora! was much better), I disagree on Patriot. That was also based on fact and, from what I understand, was pretty accurate. Maybe our film people need to find some Canadians or someone to write about? There's plenty of good stories...not to mention some juicy ones too...in your history. It could make for some good flicks.

impossible to pick just one....

the first 2 Deathwish movies with Charles Bronson!...
ALL of the Mad Max flicks!!...
Cool Hand Luke...
Easy Rider...
Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail (recommended for both genders)...
Repo Man...
at least one film with Burt Reynolds AND Dom Deluise in it...
ALL BOND FILMS from Sean Connery to Pierce Brosnan...
and your choice of ANY 6 Clint Eastwood flicks (even the spaghetti westerns ,although 2 should include Dirty Harry and Every Which Way But Loose)!!!

i agree with ph on the death wish movies but id include the 3rd one to. another excellent one is heat...with robert deniro, al pacino and val kilmer

If you want to talk about historically inaccurate films, "Braveheart" is full of it. Especially how they portrayed Robert the Bruce!

First of all, the Scottish didn't wear kilts for another hundred years of so. I can forgive that one, because anyone who didn't research history would assume they wore kilts and would complain about their absence.

Now, this whole business in the movie about Wallace and the pricess Isabella, pure rubbish. She was 13 years old at the time.

The battle at Stirling (you know, the one in which the Scotts mooned the Brittish and then speared the horses) is actually called the Battle at Stirling Bridge. Here's what really happened. For the Brittish to fight the Scotts at Stirling, they had to cross a bridge to get there. Well, instead of waiting for the whole Brittish army to cross the bridge, and then start the battle, they slaughtered the Brittish AS they crossed the bridge. Hardly as heroic as the movie made it out to be.

Wallace was betrayed at the battle of Falkirk, but it wasn't by Robert the Bruce, and he didn't get captured then. In fact, he wasn't captured until 7 years later. And for 3 of those 7 years, he was hiding out in France!

Now, as for Robert the Bruce, as I said earlier, he NEVER betrayed Wallace, and he didn't start fighting the Brittish AFTER Wallace was executed. In fact, Robert was fighting them before Wallace ever picked up the sword and drew Brittish blood. He was also fighting them while Wallace was cowering in Frogland.

To give the film makers credit though, as far as I know, they portrayed Lonshanks pretty accurately. And the scene in which Wallace was drawn and quartered was also pretty accurate, except they would have hung him until he was almost dead before they started dismembering him.

I would have to say that mopst of clint eastwoods badass movies qualify. i also think tombstone was a great guys movie. Also, the first three rocky movies, and also Rudy, that movie kicked ass!

How do you know where you thier...WOW you must be old, maybe you're Duncan McCloud of the Clan McCloud. If you'll notice at the start of the film, "the Bruce" points out that those who wrot history normaly hanged heroes.

The man who wrote the movie (an American decendent of Wallace) even admits that he made most of it up. He said that history doesn't always make a good story.
