The All American Girl

I am not the type who usually watches beauty pagents, but this new show, The All American Girl, Wednesday nights on ABC is really good. It is more than just about beauty and talent. They really make the girls get real and open up. I tape it every week if I am not home to watch it.

So, what do you all think?

I've never heard of it...but then, I mainly watch cartoons and Nick at Nite. What day/time/channel is it on ?

As I said above, Wednesday nights on ABC. It is on at 9pm. EST.

I haven't seen this show, but if it shows that beauty pageant contestants are real people and not just pin-ups, that's a good thing.

I saw it on the 1st night (the company I work for is doing a tribute video for Suzanne DePasse and we were looking for "b-roll" and caught this.


You're right in that it's very different than so many other beauty pagents. The women are all still model gorgeous - not that I'm complaining - but it shows them as humans, not just people who are good looking but uselessly dumb, but not idealized "I want to end world hunger" types, either.

Maybe a few model-types will now see this and knock theselves out less trying to be the idealized but unrealistic type of person, while others who simply are not gifted in the looks catagory (me me me me me!) will be less jealous & catty towards those who are when we really see how regular they can be.

Although... did you see some of the test answers a few gave? There was one woman who got all the questions wrong!
